In the Kanto region, in a large manor on Route 1, there was a teen boy of about 16 looking into a mirror in a spacious bathroom. He had a well proportioned body. He had dark skin and shamelessly admired himself. He was inspecting his face to make sure he looked good for one of the biggest days of his life. He had a handsome face with a sharp jawline and curly hair spilling over the sides of his shaved head. The boys name was Percy Chase, a young 16 year old boy living with his adoptive father and butler.
"Percy? We should really get going, we don't want to be late!" A kind voice called through the bathroom door.
"I'll be right out Brooke!" looking into the mirror one last time Percy turned away and opened the door. An old man of about 60 was standing there with a gentle smile and wrinkles around his eyes. His grey hair and casual clothing gave him a pleasant feel.
"Are you ready to go? I can't wait for you to get a Pokémon. I wonder which one you'll pick, you know your father likes grass." He babbled. He was a bit talkative at times. But he was still a good person which went far in Percy's sheltered life.
"Calm down Brooke, I'm not sure which Pokémon I'll pick. I think I'll decide when I get there." This was a lie, he knew which Pokémon he wanted generally. He knew he didn't want a fire type. He didn't feel this way for any particular reason he just subconsciously didn't like them. He also didn't want to tell Brooke, because he knew he would try to dissuade him from his decision. He was planing on picking a Totodile. Totodiles were known for being significantly difficult to 'conquer'. At least when compared to the other Royal Pokémon.
"Make sure you pick something good. Not everyone gets to start with a Royal Pokémon." Royal Pokémon were the 3 best starter Pokémon in each region and can cost 5 million poke-dollars up to 100 million. They all have at least red potential as well. Although Pokémon that cost that much will only be afforded by the biggest powers in the world. Less than 1 percent of trainers have Royal Pokémon. Starting with a Rattata and starting with a Charmander are completely different things. Clearly the person with a Charmander will do greater things. The average person would have to buy the Pokémon to be their starter.
The only way people could get a Royal Pokémon is through connections or money. Since so many Pokémon are wanted for starters and families a profession known as Pokémon hunter came into being. They would search for and catch Pokémon with good potential and then sell them for money. While it can make good money it is also really dangerous. Especially when they are targeting high potential Pokémon. Only about 50% of trainers survive their first year. It really is a dangerous occupation. Percy wouldn't be doing something like this but has to help his father.
His father, Omar, is suffering from a disease that makes him slowly lose control of his body. He was estimated to die in about 3 years. The only way to cure him was to get an item from a full blooded legendary Pokémon. These Pokémon could destroy a small island with a single attack. They were more like gods than Pokémon. Half blooded legendary Pokémon is when a full blooded legendary falls in love with a normal Pokémon. Although Pokémon that come from eggs are always the same species as the mother, the legendary genes override the mothers genes. Resulting in the legendary Pokémon. Of course, not all legendarys mate. But some do and only the strongest people own a half blooded legendary.
Soon Brooke and Percy arrived in front of a large ornate door. Walking up, Brooke pushed open the door into a simple room with a large bed in the middle. An old, short man was laying under a bunch of sheets with a big smile on his face.
"Percy! Are you ready to go to the lab. I hope Oak can get you a good starter." He exclaimed. 'They seem more excited for this than I am.' Percy thought.
"I'm ready Dad. I won't come back for at least a month, so try to stay safe without me." Percy said. "I'll make sure to send back strong Pokémon to protect you guys."
"Nonsense, we haven't needed protection all these years, why would we need it now?" He stubbornly said. "Here's 10,000 poke dollars for the start of your journey. It was all I could come up with in this short amount of time."
"It would be very nice if we could have more company. We own about 200 acres of land, so you can put as many Pokémon as you want here. There is even a small stream for water Pokémon." Brooke said. "Professor Oak will teleport here with his Alakazam to get you in 5 minutes."
"We'll get going now. Goodbye, father." Bending down, Percy hugs his father and leaves the room with Brooke. They walked to the front of the house, where an Alakazam and a man were waiting for them. He had a box like face and gray hair with a white labcoat.
"Are you ready, Percy? I heard so much about you from your father. I've prepared some really good Pokémon for you." The only reason Percy gets a Royal Pokémon for free is that his father was good friends with Professor Oak. He was determined not to let this opportunity go to waste.
"It's nice to meet you, Professor. I am all ready to go." Percy walked toward them and stood in front of them. "So how does this work?" Suddenly, Percy felt an odd tugging sensation in his stomach and closed his eyes. When he opened his eyes, he was in front of a large white building in the middle of a city.
"Welcome to Pallet City."
