Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Ikari grinned at their statement, whether they will uphold their promise or not. They will only have two outcomes.

"Bepo, when will we arrive at the next island?" asked Ikari. "Don't worry about the thing about the guy we stole this ship from," he whispered.

Bepo nodded at his statements. "I know, we didn't leave any witnesses. We will likely land at dawn or dusk the next day." he sniffed the air. "The wind is on our side, increasing our speed significantly."

"Whatever you say, you're the navigator. I'll take your word any day." Ikari glanced at Penguin. "Continue training the two brother's observation haki." he turned to Caribou and Coribou. "If you master that haki, I or Bepo will train you two."

Ikari turned his back and a smile formed upon his lips. Law walked in together with him in the cabin, he felt a glance on his back but ignored it.

"Why did you let those two join us, anyway?" Law walked beside Ikari as they both went inside the cabin. "I initially thought that your idea was horrible. But it may have worked."

"The older one has a logia devil fruit, he will be unstoppable in the grand line if he decided to create a crew of his own. It will be a pity to let such a useful man go."

Ikari looked through the glass on the door. "I might ignore my instinct, but I have a complete trust in my haki of observation." he glanced back to Law. "He didn't show the intent to kill, at least we can use his brother if he ever throws us under the ship."

"I overheard their plan, it was pretty simple." Law scoffed. "Even my ten-year-old self can come up with a more plausible plan. That was just plain suicide, he doesn't even know your true strength."

Ikari laughed. "They knew just recently the knowledge of Haki. The older one has more potential than the other." he patted Law's shoulder. "You must have scared him that his brain didn't let him refuse the sword. I originally thought that he was much meticulous with his planning."

"He was hanging by a thread," Law added. "If I didn't make myself known, he might have not picked up the sword. And laid in wait for the right time."

"With him knowing that there is another type of Haki. He will not easily betray us, I know it, he knows it too." he grinned. "By the time he mastered observation haki, he's already integraged in the crew. He can never escape from my clutches."

On the deck of Sweet Caroline,

Shachi walked beside Bepo. "What did you two talk about earlier?"

"About the fifty million bounty pirate that we 'provoked'." he checked the compass.

Shachi nodded. "Of course, they were all in the sea bed now. He must've said that to scare the new guys, haha! What a brilliant plan he had."

"It was part of the test. I have always hated his mind games." Bepo added.

"It is because you often react before thinking!" Shachi exposed his shortcoming. "Caribou was likely pressured earlier and didn't think straight."

"Captain was implying that he was not trustworthy enough to learn armament haki." Bepo countered. "Maybe he wanna prove his loyalty or something. Ikari may think twice now. Because either Caribou will follow his orders unconditionally as he even tried to kill his brother or break his vow as a testament, Caribou almost broke his grandma's vow. The man is a walking red flag."

Shachi scratched his head rapidly. "I just don't understand why he allowed that bastard to join. Now, we will look over our shoulders now and then. And pray that someone will not kill us in our sleep."

Bepo shook his head. "He's confident that we can take care of ourselves. Or else, he won't even enable Caribou to name our ship."

Shachi sighed and looked at his brother who was happily smacking Caribou's head. "I won't even need to think that he will be Caribou's first target if he ever decides to kill someone in the crew."

"Hey!!! Don't use your haki, damn it!" Caribou shouted out in frustration. "You're enjoying this, are ya!?"

Penguin held back a smile. "I dunno what you talking bout...? If you continue to be complacent cos of yer logia fruit. Then, there is no point in learning haki."

"You make a compelling point but even god can see your fucking smile from heaven!" he stood up. "Did you ever notice that God is watching you enjoying beating someone!!!"

"Okay... Okay, now, don't pussy out." Penguin held Caribou in the shoulders and shoved him back down. "I'll stop using haki for crying out loud... But if you ever mention god again. You'll have haki reinforced fist up yer head, I tell ya!"

Later that day, Dawn approached the horizon as the sunset and moon occupied their place.

"Land a-hoy!" announced Law from the crow's nest. "Notice island up ahead."

Ikari turned the helm to the starboard as the ship drifted near a cliff. "Anchors away! Fold the sails! Should we visit the town today, or tomorrow morning?"

"Sleep in the ship, it is!" Bepo suggested.

Shachi protested. "You can sleep your bear ass in the ship. Captain, we can visit the, you know..." he winked.

"You guys can stay on the ship," Ikari smirked. "Someone volunteered to go look for a map but went to a brothel instead. Hmm... Who was that again?"

Penguin glared at Coribou. "It was a fluke. I wasn't even paying attention. It was an ambush, ye ambush I say."

Ikari smacked the two brother's heads. "I trusted your judgment and let you have your fun. But not tonight. And don't even bother sneaking out, you won't like it when I get mad." he stared them right in the eyeballs.

He clapped his hands twice. "Now, back to the cabin!" Ikari watched them enter their rooms. "Ladies, here I come..." he chuckled.

"I knew it." Law appeared at his side.

"Don't look at me like that!" Ikari rolled his eyes. "I was teaching them a lesson. Wanna come and enjoy native beauties?"

Law sighed and shook his head. "I want to sleep. Just go, be back before they wake up though."

"I know, I know." Ikari waved goodbye and hopped up on the cliff. "Well, well, well. Let's let loose tonight. Ikahahaha!"

...

The next morning, a certain man patrolled the island's perimeter. He quickly grabbed his telescope. "Tch! Captain's gonna love this. There should be some treasures in that ship... Haha—" his laughter abruptly halted.

Thud! Roll!

The rolling head was squished out of existence as a wooden sandal stepped on it.

Splat!

"Che—, why did I even bother stumping it with my foot?" Ikari cursed his bad luck. "Fuck! It dirtied my sandal and sock. Damn! A bad day."

Ikari sighed in frustration and walked towards Sweet Caroline. "Caribou has a good sense of aesthetic. The mermaid is beautiful indeed." he hopped and landed on the ship.

"Don't tell me you went to the town without us?" shouted Shachi. "What a selfish captain you are!" added Penguin.

"Shaddap!" Ikari pointed at the cliff. "We would have alerted the pirates occupying the island! And, yes, I went to the town. Not to enjoy the girls, but to scout... Yes, scout." he smiled as he remembered four jingling melons.

"I know that smile!" Shachi had a horrified expression. "That's a smile when a man is satisfied with those massive mountains! I am that smile. I live for that...!" he enthusiastically had a fist-raising to the sky.

"Don't be dramatic..." Law glanced at Ikari. "So, you know who are the scums we will deal with?"

Ikari flapped his hands. "Just a bunch of pirates. Common north blue pirates. The captain is called 'Gunslinger' Gotti with a bounty of twenty-six million beli. His right-hand man is a sixteen million beli pirate, Alderman 'The Barber',"

Law nodded and recalled the names. "Oh, the Gunner Pirates? How many are they in total?"

"Based on my observation haki... Should be around fifty-something including their captain and his vice-captain." Ikari counted. "Their basecamp is northwest of our position, we'll be recognized as soon as we enter the town."

"Did you already alert them then?" Penguin was confused. "You slept in the town, so they must have seen you."

Ikari grinned. "I was inconspicuous and it was at night that I entered the town. They are lax in their security. They also have a puppet mayor, but it seemed to me that they harmed the citizens."

"So, the residents may be on our side." Law nodded at his plan. "It sucks that we don't have a devil fruit that can influence the mind."

Ikari grunted. "What happened to your ope-ope fruit? I'm sure that you can change personalities with the mayor, then incite a mass uprising."

"But you said that the mayor is a puppet by the pirates," Bepo asked. "Then, they might kill the mayor in anger."

"It's up to our doctor to improvise." Ikari laughed. "The townspeople can help us detain the other pirates while we kill the captain and his vice-captain. Coribou can steal the treasures they gathered."

"Kehihihi! Aye, Captain. I pray for their deaths to god!" Caribou had his eyes like a downward crescent moon. "Coribou! Ye heard that? Bring the machine guns! We'll storm their stronghold!"

Ikari looked at his crew. "This will be our first operation. Avoid the citizens, prioritize the scums! We will be getting rid of lots of scums and God shall bless us, lads! Ikahahahaha!"
