If the electricity did not kill them, then it would be her sword that finished things.
The main problem was that there was no sign of the creatures stopping anytime soon.
All of them had been going for quite some time already.
They may have had breaks and had prepared well, but constant fighting, where they had to be vigilant at all times during the night, was quite draining and stressful.
The voice of Ashwin could be heard after a flash bang grenade was thrown out, followed by an Electro grenade. "Are you certain there is something here?"
Neo Stella had briefly removed her blindfold as she was looking toward a device in her hands.
On it was a small radius that seemed to be their surroundings, while there were some blinking dots located toward the middle of the screen that seemed to show that the dots were close by.
Neo Stella nodded in response. "Yup. Take a look. There is a unique energy signature here. This device is good for detecting certain types of minerals and other materials. It is often used by groups that plunder the resources of the planets and moons."
A high-tech pistol was fired by Neo Stella a moment later, causing a laser projectile to hit one of the creatures that had slipped through.
It did not even require Neo Stella to look in that direction to know where to shoot, and she was very accurate.
It came from honing her senses so much that she did not need to rely on the use of her eyes.
It was a unique skill that she had trained to be able to counter the Camo Pirates, who were the Ripper Mercenaries' greatest enemies.
Perhaps if the situation and environment were a little different, then she might not have been captured so easily by them, as her main feature could not be used in combat between ships that took place in space.
The number of creatures attacking would not show any signs of dropping, as if their numbers were endless.
The sounds of digging continued as Bunbun and Ripley created a much larger crater in the ground.
Bunbun was yelling. "This is endless! How long have we been digging?!"
Ripley could be heard a moment later. "Neo… are you certain?"
Neo Stella responded quickly. "Just keep going. It should be around here."
It was not long after they talked that something happened that caused both Ripley and Bunbun to flinch.
The ground under where they were digging began to fall deeper down through some holes that appeared as if there was a hollow spot underground that had begun to collapse.
There was a sudden burst of movement that came right away as something was moving under the surface.
The soil began to move as something emerged.
The same creatures that had been fighting against the group had come from underground.
The light shone on those spots was not so strong at that moment, especially since Ripley and Bunbun had blocked some of the light that had spread through the area.
One emerged, followed by another as they pounced at those that were closest.
Bunbun was the quickest to respond as her large claws swiped toward them, causing them to be cut apart with ease, while others were swatted away with great force. "So some have been underground."
She remained calm despite being initially surprised as her senses remained sharp.
Her Observation Haki allowed her to detect each of them as they came out.
The senses of Ripley may not have let her predict what was about to happen, but she was able to use them to detect the locations of anything emerging from different angles. "We need some light shone down into the hole!"
She continued to wave her arms around, slashing and swatting each of them as they swarmed from different directions.
"Got it!" Ashwin threw a flash bang grenade down into the dugout hold before reaching toward some of the light equipment that was a smaller size.
He began positioning them so that some would shine into the dug-out hole, allowing Bunbun and Ripley to continue with their work.
Each second that passed brought on a number of changes as the number of creatures increased and they found new ways to attack.
Some tried recklessly flying into an attack on the equipment, while others tried coming from underground to damage the equipment from underneath or from other blind spots.
Those changes made everyone stay on high alert as they had to move to protect the equipment and to adjust how they were positioned as they were elevated off the ground.
Additional modifications were made underneath to shine light downward from the location that did not have light shining from it, unlike all of the other angles that were from the top, front, back, left and right.
The ground was dug up even more until there was a sudden clang as if something tough was hit. "I think this is it!"
"Woohoo!"
"Dig it up!"
"It is mining time!"
What was mined were unique minerals that glowed in the dark as if they radiated a strange light energy.
It was one of the resources that they had been looking for.
Ashwin examined it while commenting. "So this is it. How fascinating. If the information was correct, then the other materials we need will not be too far away. Let us keep digging and searching."
Among the resources available on the planet, the stones of light were the main resource that the old civilisation used to protect itself from the creatures.
Most of their technology was built around them, as the light they produced was what kept the creatures from approaching.
The light stones were a resource that was not discovered and made use of until much later, as most of the planet was already on the verge of ruin.
Although they were stones of light that seemed to glow without fading, it was not an unlimited source of energy.
If the energy inside was pulled out or tampered with, then the light would dim and it would go out one day.
