Chapter 582 - WSSTF 1

It did not go into great detail about how the Heart Pirates were able to settle on Zou, but it probably had something to do with Bepo.

Alyssia made things much easier for them, as various processes could be skipped, and they would be granted entry.

Law would not have much contact with her for some time when he was isolated on Punk Hazard, but there would be some times that he could get in touch with her.

Depending on how deeply undercover he was going, there were limits to how much he could do freely, and there were always chances that there would be some monitoring going on, so he had to be careful.

What he did promise was to try to obtain information on where Caesar got a lot of his materials for his experiments.

She wanted to be of help to the kids being experimented on, but she knew that she could not interfere, especially with her current status as a Warlord.

If there was one restriction she had, then it was that she was not allowed to conflict with or interfere with anything related to another Warlord so that the balance was maintained.

She was not so willing to give up her current position, as it provided various benefits.

If she did try to save the kids sneakily or interfere with the kidnappings, then there would only be others who would take their place.

If the root of the problem was not dealt with, then it would continue regardless of her intervention.

All that would change would be who else would be dragged into it all.

There was one thing that Alyssia requested from Law, and that was to try to prevent as many deaths as possible.

If it were possible, then he could find a way to use his abilities to fake the deaths of some children, as he could send them far away and operate on them, allowing them to be saved.

Unfortunately, such an approach was very risky and it could only be used on those who were in a worse-off state and were expected to die or be discarded soon.

Those still being tested had a lot of attention on them, so it was difficult to free them without anyone noticing.

Law had planned to gain trust through using exchanges of hearts, so he had to be extra careful not to get caught, since it would put his whole plan at risk.

What he did guarantee was that he would treat the children once it was all over, which was something he would do anyway once he was finished on Punk Hazard.

They departed, wishing each other luck, as both of their success in future events had an effect on both of their plans.

Law still needed the Warlord position or to share the position with her.

It was possible that he could lose that position if Alyssia were to disappear from the world, unless it was decided that he could take over once she was gone.

It was not guaranteed that he would be able to keep that position, so Alyssia needed to survive and maintain her position for as long as he could make use of it.

After they split up, Alyssia made some more trips to different locations as she met up with a couple of old acquaintances.

She spent a little more time with Jewellery Bonney while making the occasional trip in between Wano, Zou and Egghead Island, but she still had plans for trips she would still need to make.

Meanwhile, on Paradise, the first half of the Grand Line.

Alfred was standing in a factory facility that seemed to be newly built, his gaze drifted through the documents in his hands as he flicked through them.

He looked up toward a group of people who were gathered. "At the beginning of your employment or registration to one of the departments of the White Storm, you all received a questionnaire to fill in.

You were not made to fill it in and hand it in, as it was left to each of you to decide. That in fact… was a test for every one of you on how far you would go beyond what is asked of you and to test your dedication, along with other qualities."

He adjusted the tie on his suit. "Those who filled in everything provided valuable information. The forms included psychology and personality questions that provided all types of important information about you.

All of that information has been kept strictly confidential, but it has allowed your personality, goals, interests, dislikes, ideology, beliefs, and much more to be identified more thoroughly."

He continued to pace around the factory floor before turning to the people gathered. "Some of these things become important for identifying whether someone is suitable to receive a certain role or promotion.

As for others… it helps to identify who is loyal and willing to stick around in the White Storm while identifying those who will be with us temporarily or may have other intentions that could be malicious."

Alfred reached to twirl the end of his moustache with his finger before pointing toward the crowd. "You all have been carefully selected as a result of passing the initial tests and showing excellent skills or talents that have improved remarkably.

Each of you is an asset who has agreed to come here today to participate in this project. You all will be the very first to receive this opportunity, and you all hold an important position now. Welcome to the White Storm Special Task Force or WSSTF."

He flipped through the documents as the first person. "This task force will be handling a lot of matters in the first half of the Grand Line. First, we have Patsy Maddox, step forward."

A mature lady stepped forward, dressed in a brown cowboy hat with a sunflower print dress that had belts and waist braces attached over or under her clothes.

Some had attachments on them that sheaths or holsters could be added to them to allow easy access to draw whatever weapon would be within reach.

She had medium-length dark green wavy hair that had been swept to the side, causing one of her dark green eyes to be covered, which was paired with very light freckles on her fair skin.
