Maria urged her horse faster, drawing alongside Vivian with deep unrest shadowing her face. "What madness possesses you Vivian? We were tracking the princess, yet you lead us toward Ervelon?"
Vivian did not slacken her pace nor turn her head. "Foresight... have you forgotten that the gods granted me this burden?"
"Are you telling me you saw the princess within Ervelon?" Maria demanded, her voice climbing in disbelief. If Melissa and Gareth sought sanctuary in the elven capital, why abandon their escort? It defied all reason.
"I saw them not entering of their own accord," Vivian replied smoothly. "I saw them driven there."
"By whom?"
"That much is shrouded in the mist." Vivian cast a brief, sidelong glance at her companion, offering a thin, tight reassurance. "But my visions do not lie."
