Vera let out a cold snort, picked up the wine glass on the table and drained it: "She's just a mad dog. Now that life's peaceful for me and Luke, I don't have the patience to deal with her. But—"
She slammed the glass down on the table, full of fierce determination: "If she dares to mess with us again, I swear I'll ruin her, or my name isn't Warner!"
"Nice!" Faye clapped her hands, excited for Vera's boldness.
The two were chatting, when Vera's phone suddenly rang.
A strange number.
"Hello, are you the guardian of Chloe Warner and Zola Morgan? Your children are suspected of carrying a large amount of drugs and attempted murder. Please come to the police station immediately."
Drugs? Murder?
Vera's hand trembled, almost dropping the phone.
Impossible!
"We'll explain the details when you arrive at the station." The voice on the phone sounded impatient and hung up quickly.
Faye saw her pale face and asked worriedly, "What's going on?"
