Vera Warner had thought he was only concerned about his own reputation, which was why he'd insisted on not calling the police. But when she heard him say this, she was utterly shocked.
After taking a few steps, Vera turned back and asked in surprise, "You're doing this because you're worried about causing me trouble."
Victor Morgan nodded. "What else would it be? You know how my parents feel about you, and the rest of the Morgan family are all troublemakers. If this gets out, do you really think they'd let it go?"
Victor Morgan was considering far more than just that, but he didn't share his true thoughts with her.
Vera Warner was deeply moved. After careful consideration, she said seriously, "I'm very grateful that you're thinking of me, but the child's safety is the priority right now. Once we find Zola, I don't care how much trouble they want to cause."
