Sylvia seemed to instantly read Victor Morgan's mind and quickly changed her tune. "But I can tell Miss Warner is a very kind person. Otherwise, why would she risk her life to save Zola and take such good care of her?"
Inwardly, however, Sylvia believed this was all part of Vera Warner's scheme.
'To stay by Victor Morgan's side, she first had to get Zola on her side. The woman is truly brilliant.'
So now Sylvia had a new idea: she had to find a way to win over Zola Morgan as well. That would be half the battle won.
Hearing her speak up for Vera, Victor Morgan finally felt a bit more at ease. He nodded and said, "You're right. Vera has done so much for the child, so I owe her a great deal."
"You don't really need to feel indebted. After all, she did all those things willingly. It's not like they're related by blood. Don't put so much pressure on yourself."
