Ever since Victor Morgan had woken up, he only had eyes for Sylvia Schuyler. Everything he knew about Vera Warner came from what Sylvia had told him.
Originally, Mrs. Morgan had no fondness for Vera Warner and had never wanted her to marry into the Morgan family. But compared to Sylvia Schuyler, who had simply taken all the credit, Vera was far superior.
"Was it really her who saved me?" Victor Morgan asked, needing to be certain. He finally received a definitive answer from Mrs. Morgan.
"Why would I hide this from you? If you don't believe me, go ask your precious Sylvia Schuyler. Besides, she saved you twice, and she did so under immense pressure, pouring all her effort into treating you."
Only now did Mrs. Morgan realize Vera Warner's virtues. At least when she had been with Victor Morgan, she had never tried to sow discord among their family.
