"I believe you. You can handle all those preparations yourself. What I want to talk about is going out and getting a job."
Victor Morgan immediately shot down the suggestion. "Vera, I know you're a very independent person, but the two children need you to take care of them right now. And you know about my father's health. Having you around puts my mind at ease."
Hearing Victor Morgan already treat her as the lady of the house, arranging these duties for her, and even defining her role, Vera Warner felt the conflict between them had begun to surface.
Vera Warner took a deep breath, forcing herself to remain calm. "In that case, why don't you stay home and take care of the two children? I can build a career and support all of you just fine. As for your father, you know him better than I do, so you're better suited to look after him."
