It had to be a blessing from the heavens. How else could Victor Morgan have found Vera Warner here? He even wondered if his eyes were playing tricks on him, or if he was dreaming.
Otherwise, how could he open his eyes and see the person he yearned for day and night?
Victor Morgan broke into a run. It wasn't a long distance, but it seemed impossibly far. He just wanted to close the gap.
"Vera, I'm here! Wait for me!"
Victor Morgan kept running, finally reaching Vera Warner's side. Overcome with emotion, he gathered her into his arms, barely daring to believe this was real.
But a moment later, a worrying sight met his eyes. Vera Warner's body was covered in several cuts. They must have been submerged in seawater for too long, as the skin around them had turned white.
"Vera, don't be afraid. I've found you. I won't let anything happen to you again."
