Vera couldn't wrap her head around what was happening. For Chloe to have mistaken that person for her, the resemblance had to be absolutely perfect.
Even if look-alikes existed in the world, it was impossible for the resemblance to be this strong—unless there was one other possibility.
Vera didn't want to believe where her thoughts were leading. 'Could it be a clone made by the organization?'
The organization's technicians had been working on this in the past. At the time, Vera had found it unethical and had always been against it.
But she was just one person with little influence; there was no way she could have stopped them. As she could now see, they hadn't stopped at all. They had actually gone through with it.
Vera held her daughter in her arms, comforting her. "Chloe, you've had a long day and you must be tired. Lie down and rest. Mommy will wake you up when we get to the hospital."
