Vera Warner was on edge throughout the entire meal. After all, at the dinner table, Mrs. Morgan kept pointedly reminding her that it was time to start thinking about a wedding date. 'Is she trying to pressure me into marriage?'
After dinner, as the sky began to darken, Vera Warner used it as an excuse to make a quick getaway. After all, if the interrogation continued, she really wouldn't know what to say.
"Vera, you must take what I said to heart."
"You and Victor can't just keep going on like this, paying no mind to anything. You have to think about the children."
"Don't you worry. As long as you give the word, you won't have to lift a finger for anything else. I'll arrange everything perfectly for you, so just relax."
Mrs. Morgan said anxiously. It had to be said, she had truly worried herself sick over their marriage.
