Fortunately...
The heartache has become numb. Even the cruelest pain, after a sigh, can finally be laughed off.
Alice Robinson's face showed a faint smile, but the pain was still in her eyes.
Forbidding herself from dwelling on things she shouldn't be sad about, Alice picked up her phone and dialed Claud Laurence's number.
The call connected.
"It's me."
Claud Laurence laughed, "We just parted, why are you calling again?"
Alice's tone was slightly coquettish, "Don't you like it when I call you?"
"Of course I do... it proves that you think of me too."
Alice looked slightly bashful, but her words were bold, "Of course I think of you."
"What's up?"
"Hmm?"
"Did you really call just because you miss me?"
Even through the phone, she couldn't hide from him; he always saw through everything.
She decided to tell him directly, "I've been thinking about our engagement, and I believe it's a good decision."
"Why didn't you say so earlier?"
