As soon as the apartment door opened, Naisi rushed out impatiently, first wagging her tail at Yuan Jianyue, then, when she saw Xie Duo, she jumped up and pawed at his pant leg to show how happy she was to see him.
"Naisi, stop it." Yuan Jianyue hurriedly called her dog back inside. The place was usually just her, so after rummaging around for a while, she pulled out her dad's slippers and handed them to Xie Duo. "You can wear my dad's."
"Okay." Xie Duo had been here once before, but hadn't gone in. Inside was just like he'd imagined—clean, tidy, and cozy.
There were a few small, carefully chosen knickknacks that really felt like her style.
"Sit down first." Yuan Jianyue was also trying to ease the awkwardness. "Have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet, I came over right after I got off the plane."
