"So, what are you saying?" My nails dig into my palms, leaving shallow cuts on my skin. "Critical condition, surgery?"
"He's suffered repeated blunt force trauma…" Andy sits across from us at the table, his charts beside him. His tone didn't waver, and I'm not sure if I'm resentful about it. "We're looking at damage to his organs, bones, muscles, and potential internal bleeding."
"Why isn't he healing?" Ivan keeps his hand on my lower back, rubbing circles to keep me calm.
"The blood panels show a massive deficiency in white blood cells and cell reproduction. He's able to clot injuries, but his body isn't creating replacement cells fast enough. Even if he were a regular wolf or human, the numbers are too low."
"How is that possible?" A stinging sensation in my throat turns to burning. There's no easy fix to this.
"Your brother's suffering extreme malnutrition. That's causing part of the problem. The other part is the chemicals we found in his tox-screen."
