"The pursuers are catching up! Hold on tight!"
In the rearview mirror, several military Humvees and countless black-and-white police cars roared toward them, sirens blaring. In the first Humvee, a soldier in camouflage was leaning out from the vehicle's central hatch. A rocket launcher rested on his shoulder. Unlike a small car, a large van like this could maintain its balance relatively easily once it picked up speed, but any slight error in operation could still cause it to roll over.
The sound of stray bullets peppering the van's chassis was relentless. Xiao Qianxi and Situ Xiaojing had already plastered all the bulletproof vests against the rear doors, but that would only hold for so long.
On every street the van tore through, people screamed in terror, assuming it was a police crackdown on criminals. In truth, it wasn't far off to call Xia Liang and his group criminals.
