Instead of continuing to worry about the hopeless child, Morrow channeled some of his energy into James. The exhaustion the cane felt wasn't only mental - it was a very literal exhaustion caused from using up a tremendous amount of power to delay Lex's Dao Body tribulation.
James himself, however, didn't even seem to notice the energy flowing into his body, helping him recover from the fatigue of pretending to be someone powerful and mysterious. Instead, he pulled up his holographic interface - something he had built himself after spending endless years within the library studying its books.
The interface was tapped into the laws of the universe, and delivered information to the library much in the same way Dao Lords stayed in touch with whatever was happening in the universe. Of course, the only reason James could build something that touched upon the laws in such a way was due to the inherent power of the Fable of Time.
