Chester Sawyer wiped the grease from the corners of his mouth, ready to go out and watch the show. It wasn't every day he got to see his father in a fight. This was a rare opportunity, and he had to go cheer him on and build some momentum.
But before the group could even leave, they were stopped by a police officer.
"Officer, what are you doing?"
"That's my question for you."
They were all cracking their knuckles, raring to go. Anyone who didn't know better would have thought they were heading out for a brawl.
Chester Sawyer stated bluntly, "My dad got hit!"
"No, your dad hit someone."
"As his son, I feel I need to be there."
"As a minor, I doubt your presence would do much good."
"Officer, I have to pee."
"Hold it!"
They'd seen plenty of brash kids like these. The police station wasn't a convenience store; you couldn't just flock to wherever the commotion was. There was no way they were letting this bunch of kids go out and stir up trouble.
