"Do you think they'll be worried about us when we skip breakfast?"
Evie asked the question quietly while folding one of Ren's shirts. The morning sunlight poured through the curtains, painting the room in soft gold. Outside, she could hear the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore and faint laughter from people still enjoying the beach.
The peaceful atmosphere should have calmed her.
Instead, it made her even more aware of everything that happened last night.
Her face warmed again at the memory.
She quickly lowered her head and focused on packing.
Ren noticed immediately.
He was sitting beside the luggage, sorting through the rest of his clothes when he glanced at her flushed cheeks. A small smile appeared on his lips before he reached over and rubbed her back gently.
"It'll be okay," he said. "They're probably still busy enjoying the beach. Nobody's paying attention to us."
Evie looked unconvinced.
