Lamarck's theory of use and disuse, Darwin's theory of evolution, and then modern evolutionary theory.
Many people bash the 'theory of evolution' in textbooks as wrong, but in reality, what's taught nowadays is modern evolutionary theory—a refined version of Darwin's theory.
It actually patches up many holes in Darwin's original theory—granted, even so, evolutionary theory still has defects and loopholes, and to this day, they remain unsolved.
But at least within the scope of knowledge accessible to ordinary people... i.e., what you learn in nine years of compulsory education, it's solid enough.
