SCOTT'S POV
Diana...
Diana...
...
The sound of my voice wasn't enough to take her out from that long daze of being lost at sea. Though it seemed liked she was staring at the parade of the fireflies, she was actually looking past them. I took a mile out of calling her name to pull her from that thousand-yard stare, and yet, she remained stiff with her hands fiddling, that her brows looked as though they were heavy. It was then that I held her in my arms, squeezed her tight enough to wake her up from that nightmare with her eyes wide open.
"You can cry on me", I told her as she kept an oppressive silence with her hands clutched on my chest. In a short moment, her small rigid body began to relax. The beats of her pounding heart have calmed. The shivering have ceased, and her twiddling thumbs stopped. However, not one tear fell. We just held our tongues, basking in each others' warmth. I listened to her deep breaths, as she curl between my legs. That silence wasn't peace that I ought to give. She was preparing to let down her guard.
"What do we have here?", she pulled away from my arms slowly, as she pay attention to the al fresco food setting that I have prepared. Refusing to talk about the burden weighing her down. Never have I thought that breaking through her hard shell would be so damn difficult.
I opened the bottle of wine which was sweating in the crystal bucket of melted ice, and poured it over the glass on the table. "This is light and sweet, it'll fit your taste", handing her the wine glass, before taking out all the food containers one by one from the wicker baskets. One that houses all sorts of cheeses with olives, another for triple decker clubhouse sandwiches, caprese skewers, mini quiches and smoked salmon, and another box for a wide variety of berries. I opened another container of more cured meats, and noticed how her face suddenly glowed at the sight of the vibrant food spread.
Her eyes feasted as she help herself in each bite. I smiled when I heard a soft grumble that she has been keeping. She's been famished, I guess. "Is it okay to leave your guests in there? They might be looking for you", she gave me a very charming smile after sipping the wine, and eating a chunk of cheese. It seemed, she did liked it.
"Reina invited them, she could handle them. Besides, I want to spend the night with you, Luna", I drained my wine glass in one go and poured another round as I breathe sharply. "So.. how did you know Sebastian", trying to mask my jealousy over my brother.
"We met at the.. elevator." she hesitated a little but it's okay. It's not like she'll look at Sebastian like how she looks at me.. She won't let him hold her like I could. "I didn't know you're related to my neighbor, really. He helped me with a little something with Calvin and my personal stuff", she said as she swirl her wine before drinking it.
"Calvin?", that bloodsucker again. A law divides vampires and wolves that keeps us away from each other' fangs and claws. Wolves could only get to kill vampires when they are in the act of causing harm on humans or on any of our kind and vice versa. Cory had it earlier, but Diana intervened. Her pure heart didn't know the extent of such grave decision. He deserved that ultimate death. As long as Calvin is existent, he shall continue to haunt Diana. "And what about your stuff?, I asked further.
"Calvin went to my place last night to send my stuff over, and let's just say Sebastian saved the day. Sebastian and I hang out in my house after he helped me bring all my stuff up", she said, as she drank all her wine. "Hold on, so that makes Sebastian a wolf too?".
Right now, I want to rip Sebastian into two and throw him to the lake. "One day, we'll have to do something about that Calvin.. and maybe Sebastian too. Yes, he is one hell of a wolf", I said as I chug the wine bottle and laid down with my hands behind my head. "Haaahhh", damn you Sebastian. Staring at the long stretch of stars in the sky, I hoped for a shooting star to take my wish that my Luna would finally see me as her mate, and stop talking about Sebastian.
"Are you... jealous?", she asked. "You can't be jealous right?".
I pretended that I didn't hear that. If yes, would she turn me away? My possession over her might be suffocating and too heavy for her to bear. I can't let the beautiful night end too soon. "So umm.. how do you like the place?", changing the topic so we won't talk about us… yet.
"Calming.. I like how you are close with nature. How do you even find these places? From bioluminescence, to the dance of the fireflies?", she sipped half of her glass, and laid down on her side facing me.
"Wolves are connected with nature.. We hear the Earth's sounds, we sense the rise of the tides and we discern the direction of the winds.. There so many magical things that we do that's hard to explain, Luna", I closed my eyes a little, trying to divert my attention away from the allure of her scent.
"Like the imprint?", she asked, as if she's stirring my feelings. Provoking my restraint. Testing my already thin patience. "Has Sebastian imprinted already?".
Of course, Sebastian cannot be her mate. We've already imprinted, that makes us destined for each other. Swallowing a lump, I turned to her and summon my courage. Maybe, if I face this now, I'd know where I would set my footing, and she'd understand how our fates have tangled in perpetuity. "Diana.. may I ask a something?", I took a deep breath before I ask the make it or break it question. She stared at me blankly, as I feel her breathe shakily. "Can I call you mine?", I closely look at her striking sapphire eyes which were focused on me. "Everyday, I pray.. no.. I beg.", I swallowed my indecisions down and inhaled more confidence to tell my Luna what my heart desires. "I beg the sun, the moon and the stars, that you will see me the way I see you. I don't mind if we remain taciturn beside each other, or if I wait for you all night for your surgeries and patient rounds. I'll drink coffee all day with you, even if it makes my acids rise. I won't stop eating your hearty meals, no matter how burned, toasted or raw they'll ever be.", I smiled briefly remembering the special breakfast made by my Luna. She made an extra effort for me, which made that meal really special. "I desperately want to cut the chase, and close the space between us where I can finally love you immensely… But Diana, if you're still not ready, just please, let me love you at least. Despite my heart aches for you to choose me, I'll love you even if I get nothing in return.. ", I wasn't even expecting for a reply. Diana was just staring, and kept silent after I professed more of my seemingly one-sided love for her.
I didn't noticed a tear fell from my eyes. Quickly, I laid back and wiped it before she could even notice. It would be too embarrassing, I guess. Then, I rested my arm behind my head, and my other hand on the side near her. I felt her turn and lay down on her back, and heard her take a long sigh as she rest her hand near mine.
"I don't know how and when it started.. but I see you in all things, even in the tiny ones. I think of you at any time of the day, and I even find myself smiling at the thought of you.", I slowly glanced at her with lack of belief. Am I hearing her right? Did I fall asleep already? If this is a dream, then I don't want to wake up. "I did hesitated for so many reasons. And I didn't want to rush love for I have my own share of heartaches to fix. But.. most of the time, I try to find you in other people, and I simply can't. For with you, I feel most loved. With you, I found peace that I've been needing", she sat upright, and I followed. Facing her so I won't miss a word that would come out of her lips. "Scott, I may have a lot of things that I need to resolve with my life right now.. but I don't think, that would stop me from falling in love with you.", she said, as she look at me straight in the eyes, and straight to my soul.
At this moment, I forgot how to breathe, how to think, and how to calm my heart. "Wh-at did you just say?", I wanted her to say it again, making sure I heard everything right. Winning against Sebastian felt so ridiculously good that all my fears and jealousy went down the drain.
"Which part?", she asked furrowing her brows.
"You.. you love me?", I asked, and can't hardly wait to hear the answer.
Her cheeks blushed as she chuckle softly. "Not exactly… but uhh.. Well, maybe I'm on my way there.. I asked you to wait, but here you are asking me again!", she chuckled so hard as it it was my fault that she drained herself with such honest declaration of what she's feeling for me.
"Is it...", I reached for her hand, held it tenderly with so much yearning.
"Yes… I'm yours, Scott Devlin", a heartwarming smile dawned on her face, as she shyly look away.
I closed my mouth and tightened my jaw, so she won't hear my heart screaming in extreme happiness. Stood up on my feet, then slowly walked up ahead in euphoria.
"Hey.. are you okay? Where are you going?", Diana asked but I didn't turn back for I don't know how to face her.
From small steps to one big leap, I found myself running with my arms open. I screamed my lungs out as I ran towards the fireflies swarming in the open field. I ran in circles, howling in pure joy. Then, I rushed back to Diana, catching my breath. She laughed at my exulting silliness and held my face with both of her palms.
"Are you okay? ", Diana laughed as she caress my face gently.
"I'm going insane", I wet my lips, as I breathe heavily. "I'm yours, Diana. All yours.", leaning towards her on the silk mat. With her hands on my face, she pulled me towards her and gave me a quick kiss on the lips. I froze for a little while from that undeserving seal of the moment. Wanting to get what I'm good for, I leaned in, tilted my head and closed my eyes pressing my lips with hers. She didn't flinched, as she rest her arms on my shoulders. Keeping it slow, I planted small kisses on her lips with my hand fixed on the back of her head.
I wanted more.
I went on... But this time, I lightly ran my tongue on her lips stained with wine. It was sweeter in her mouth, than in the fancy glass I drank in. My tongue foolishly moved inside her already parted lips, as she has been waiting for me to devour her more. Still, no protests. I nibbled her lower lip, pulled it softly and went in for more. Melting in the sweetness of the berries lingering inside her mouth, I swirled my tongue with hers and sucked it softly as she let out a soft gasp. And, there I lost it.
Leaning forward, I laid her down carefully not breaking our kiss. Laying on top of her, she trailed my shoulders to my neck, wrapping her arms around me, as if it was a complete pass for me to continue my dirty intentions. As I move my wet kisses down to her neck, Diana started to breath erratically, as she gently grab my hair. Grazing my lips on her soft skin, I slowly pulled up the hem of her dress and trailed my finger from her bare thigh up to her side.
"Scott…", Diana breathlessly called my name. Her seductive voice sent electricity through body. My shaft hardened when she bit my sensitive ear. Brushing my lips to her collarbone down to her chest, Diana arched her body as I intentionally frottage my body against hers. Skillfully slipping my hand under my coat on her, reaching for the zipper of her dress on her back. "Wait..", Diana whispered, as I was about to slowly unzip her dress. Her hands rested on my chest giving me a little push. I woke up to my senses, realizing that this will be our first. If I want it to be special and memorable, this place is definitely not a good one to have it with. I kissed her again on her lips, deeper but with control. But then, I stopped after hearing a critter sound creaking nearby. I looked around and found nothing.
"What is it?", she asked while looking at the same direction that I'm checking.
"Nothing..", I didn't want to worry her but I did heard something that distracted my sexual desires. Maybe, this place isn't in approval to have intimacy with my Luna. I kissed her on the forehead and embraced her very tight. We remained that way for a while.
The fireflies have gone by. We filled the air with more of our light conversations of favorites, dislikes, and preferences. Our fingers intertwined as we connect with the works of the imprint, that made our hearts beat into one. Then again, she still didn't spoke of the deep-seated wounds, and her whole lot of traumas. Maybe, one day... I hoped.
I helped Diana fix her hair and her dress. She didn't wore her heels, and decided to walk barefoot instead. I didn't want her to hurt her feet, so I carried her in my arms back to the rowboat despite her loud objections. "Diana, would you like to join me on the moon festival tomorrow in our old town? It's actually a week long celebration for the wolves to gather and worship the upcoming full moon.", I asked and kept my fingers crossed hoping she'd come. "I mean, if you don't want. It's okay", I said.
"Moon festival?", she thought for a while. "I've never been to one.. Sure, I'll come. I'm suspended at work anyways. ", she said, as I walk through the pine trees with my Luna giggling in my arms.
