Theodore's ears rang as he stared up at the sky. Dark clouds had formed over the duchy, as if matching his foul mood. At this point, someone should have run to his side to help him up or restrained the rude man who assaulted him, but no one moved from their positions. He could feel eyes on him and the brief sound of snickers that only fueled his anger.
The first drops of rain fell on his face. He contemplated leaving and returning to the Capital. Surely, he had suffered enough in this backwater duchy where no one knew of manners or respect.
"I can't believe he is the brother of Alphonse. At least that kid could put up a fight."
Theodore whipped his head toward the voice, but he could not figure out who had insulted him. He was worse than Alphonse? His brother who cowered in his room as soon as he returned? Nonsense. He would need to show these ingrates just who he was.
