The memories of the previous iterations had flooded his mind, giving Alan a clear grasp of everything that had happened, especially what had happened after his birth.
It made him hate James even more, but there was one thing in particular he didn't get. There wasn't anything about it in his memories.
At first, Alan thought he had missed it, so he kept searching, and searching, but eventually found nothing.
He was aware of how James had created him, aware of what he had to go through to do it, and the other small steps involved. But one thing was unclear.
Why? Why go through all that trouble? Why? Was it some psychotic obsession with perfection? The need of a creator to make a masterpiece? He didn't seem like that kind of guy.
Granted, Alan would never say he knew exactly what James was, but even then, this was too far-fetched. He wasn't the type to go through all this trouble if there was no significant reason. But what was that damn reason?
