Shangxue stood outside the door, heartache unbearable as she listened to their conversation.

Shangxue didn't pack her own luggage; she let the servants do it for her.
It wasn't out of laziness, but to avoid misunderstandings that she might have taken anything from the Xie family.
The Xie family had many valuable collectibles on display, so any guest leaving had to have their luggage checked.
Although somewhat insulting, it was the Xie family's rule, known by everyone who stayed there.
