The moment the fight broke out both the Silver haired woman and the Hero disappeared from view; the only clue of their presence being the occasional shockwave knocking anyone nearby back. Lucilla and Jason clashed back and forth, the former with a wild look on her face and the latter looking at the monster woman with scrutinization. For all intents and purposes, it seemed Lucilla had indeed increased their power.
"What did you do to become so strong in such little time?" Jason asked deflecting the horizontal swing of Lucilla's scythe aiming for his head.
Instead of answering Lucilla briefly turned her attention to the soldiers behind the Hero before channeling arcane energy, forming it and releasing a spell. Jason of course noticed her eye movement and the flow of magic and went to intercept the spell before it hit his people. Large ice spikes grew out of the ground faster than the eye could see but before it hit the soldiers the spikes exploded, sending out frozen shrapnel.
Realizing he couldn't block the attack with his sword alone, Jason crated a magical barrier that covered the entire front line just before any of his men could be harmed. He glared at the crimsoned eyed woman and charged in her direction to engage in close combat once again. Despite her weird proficiency in wielding the slightly modified farm tool, it was still a tool not built for combat, meaning he had a greater advantage compared to her.
Once Jason was close enough to swing his sword at Lucilla, he couldn't help but feel his surrounding grow colder again. He noticed when they first clashed, but feeling the change in the temperature again made him question what she was planning. Lucilla didn't have a plan of course; it was just her using magic to regulate her body temperature, but Jason didn't need to know that.
Suddenly Jason felt his intuition yell at him to move, and without hesitation the Hero ducked low. Despite the fact the swing of the scythe would've missed him, he felt an invisible blade fly over his head. She was using martial techniques along with magic. He cursed as he got up and cast a water jet spell in her direction.
Lucilla felt a pang of panic run through her as she tried avoiding the jet of water. Unlike a lot of other magic that happened in quick burst, this spell was a continuous blast of highly pressurized water. If she didn't keep herself moving, she'll sustain heavy damage.
The spell however shouldn't last that long. The main problem was the speeds that she and the Hero were moving at, making it feel as if time was slowing down. Matter of fact the two armies have yet to engage in proper combat from both of their perspectives, their movements two and a half times faster compared to the normal soldiers around them. In actuality they've been fighting for only about a minute.
To fix this, both Lucilla and the Hero concentrated mana into their eyes. They no longer relied on light alone to see the world around them, but the mana. This allowed them to see where and what they were doing, but it also meant that any attack such as the water jet seem to last longer than the actual time it took for it to be active.
Lucilla created a wall of ice to buy herself time. Forming and casting the spell took her five seconds. Five whole seconds of running and dodging. It was a long stretched for those five seconds felt like twelve and a half seconds from her perspective. Which didn't sound like a lot, but while in a fight every second could mean death.
Lucilla ducked, jumped and even used her scythe to deflect the concentrated beam of water. Once the five seconds were over a wall of ice appeared in front of her, stopping the water from cutting into her body. With time to breath and think, Lucilla planned her next move. She still needed to move Jason over to the teleportation circle.
With that in mind, she looked at their surroundings and at the two armies that at some point started fighting each other in full. Looks like they engaged each other while she was busy with the water jet. She looked back at the Hero and smirked. Black raven wings emerged from her back, slipping through slits built into her clothing so they don't tear, and without a seconds delay she flew into the sky.
Jason looked up at her with an annoyed glare but jumped towards her location using both Chi and wind magic to make him appear before her in an instant. Lucilla was slightly caught off guard by the burst in speed and before she could move out of the way Jason grabbed her arm.
"Ouch!" Jason yelped before letting go of Lucilla. "The Fuck?"
Lucilla took the opportunity of Jason momentarily disorientation and flew away, trying to get from the middle of the clashing armies. As she did this, she tried attuning her Chi into the lightning element. Lucilla wasn't all that skilled when it came to magic, so combining elements, such as wind and fire, to create composite magic wasn't something she did often.
With Jasons sudden jump in speed just now, Lucilla was once again reminded by the difference in power between the two of them and decided she would probably need extra speed. Still flying in the sky, moving much faster than if she was running, sparks of electricity started to spread across her. After several seconds, just as she completely cycled the magical enhancement through her body, Jason was once again next to her and swinging his sword.
Lucilla rolled out of the way of the swing before diving back down towards the ground to pick up speed. Her only saving grace was the Hero couldn't fly, meaning he was forced to slow down whenever he got close to the zenith of his jump. On top of that he had to control his jumps, so he actually got near her and didn't over or under shoot her position. This terrified Lucilla.
It was an expert example of control of one's body and strength.
'Who said he was the weakest Hero in History?' Lucilla complained to herself.
Lucilla kept her eyes on the edge of the battlefield but extended her senses around her to watch out for the Hero. Lucilla continues to fly around above the battle below, deftly avoiding the Hero as she flew east of their location. Lucilla was still unable to avoid every attack.
"Gah!" Lucilla yelled as the Hero finally managed to hit her out of the sky.
Despite the enchantments on her clothing, she felt some of her ribs break from Jasons kick. It was the first time anything outside of Athrem had hurt her through her clothing.
She crashed into the ground and bounced once before flying passed the final few soldiers on either side of the conflict. She slid for a few more meters and barely managed to roll out of the way and jump up onto her feet to avoid the Hero's downwards stab. She then swung her scythe at the hero forcing him to step back.
Lucilla didn't chase after him, instead she reached into her jacket to check on the teleportation crystal. Thankfully her clothes, and unfortunately her body, was enough to protect the device. She then took a second to understand her surrounding, turned, and ran for the teleportation circle, lightning sparking wherever she stepped.
She wasn't far from her goal, only about a mile away. She manipulated both her mana and the mana in the air, turning it into arcane as she formed another spell. The ground beneath her feet started to freeze as a sheet of ice formed above the ground. Lucilla soon went from running to gliding over the ice, moving even faster than before.
Sensing magical fluctuations behind her, Lucilla leapt to the side as the path she was going down was obliterated; a deep gouged being torn from the earth beside her. A cold sweat rand down Lucilla's back looking at the destruction. Just another reminder of how powerful these other worldly beings are when summoned.
The Hero didn't stop there, unlike before he focused on spells that were quick to construct, sacrificing power for speed. Lucilla skated across the ground as everything exploded around her. Then the ground exploded under her feet.
She was led into a trap; she was blasted forward rolled on the ground and jumped back onto her feet. She groaned as she pushed herself up and realized she landed on the magic circle. Looking up she saw the Hero approaching her with his sword with an annoyed expression on his face.
Sitting up into a kneeling position Lucilla acted tired as she reached into her clothes and grabs the crystal inside. However contrary to her expectations Jason stopped approaching and glared at her.
"What are you doing?" He asked cautiously.
"...."
"There's no way you faced me without a proper plan this time." Jason continued as he started studying his surroundings. "The fact you led me out here is suspicious."
Lucilla continued to stay silent as she stepped backwards. Jason noticed her movement, but stayed still, unwilling to get closer. The Hero was just outside of the circle, just a few steps away. The area of effect was large so the fact he was just outside it frustrated the silver haired woman to no end.
Feeling desperate Lucilla squeezed the crystal, cracking it slightly before pulling it out her coat and lifting it as if to toss it. Her movements slightly sluggish to make it appear she was much more tired than she was. Jason's gaze locked on to her hand instantly.
With a step he was on Lucilla in an instant, grabbing her arm. Lucilla's face bloomed into a large smile as she crushed the crystal, and a bright light enveloped them both.
