As for those men, even though the porridge in their bellies wasn't necessarily enough to really fill them up, at the very least that big bowl of porridge going down made them feel incredibly comfortable.
Especially that feeling when the hot porridge slid into their stomachs—simply too strange and wonderful. It was something they had never felt before. You could say in all the years they'd been alive, this was truly the first time they'd eaten anything like this.
This wasn't a joke, it was literally the first time. You have to understand, they had never used water to cook food.
The tree sap they usually ate might look similar to the porridge—both thick, white stuff—but the taste was worlds apart. The lingering sweetness and fragrance of this thing in their mouths was downright delightful.
