Chapter 1 - Death

DISCLAIMER:[Before this chapter starts I would like to tell you all that I own none of the characters other than my OCS]

Josh Amerken, a senior student in college with average looks and a height of 6'1 was in his dorm room watching anime when all of a sudden gunshots were fired off.

This instantly alarmed the young man as he instinctively ran to lock his door completely forgetting about the existence of his roommates.

Currently, they were nowhere to be seen and as one would guess they were out of their room leaving only Josh within.

As he locked the door with a forehead covered in beads of sweat several hurried footsteps reminiscent to the sound of galloping horses came rushing down the hall towards his room.

At this moment fear had completely overtaken the boy as his heart beated with intensity.

*Bang* *Bang* *Bang*

"Hah…" "Hah…" Hah…"

Several bangs were heard as the stifled pants of the persons on the other side of the door sounded within the narrow hallway.

It was at this moment that Josh finally remembered that his roommates were out. Instantly, his face darkened.

The fear of knowing that he may become the cause of their deaths rushed towards his head as he hurriedly tried to unlock his door. Just as he had done so however, gunshots were fired off.

One by one the heavy thuds of what he suspected to be bodies resounded throughout the hall ringing within his head.

Frozen on the spot completely speechless as his mind couldn't seem to process what he had done, the door was pulled open instantly.

In front of Josh stood a young man that looked to be around his age.

His hair was messy and long falling over his face and on his body adorned him a black t-shirt and brown khaki pants followed by a pair of black boots.

In his hands rested a deagle and if one would look closer at his black t-shirt they would see blood soaking into its cleavage.

It took a hot minute, but Josh had finally gotten his bearings back. However, just as he did a bright flash flickered in front of his face before his vision turned black.

Josh...had his head blown off with his brain matter flying towards all directions. It was truly a gory scene.

Within a black space a soul remained afloat. It may not have seemed like it but that soul had been there for over five years.

It had a conscience, being able to think and speak on its own even remembering its past.

And as it did recall its past it couldn't accept the fact that its one selfish action had caused the lives of his fellow schoolmates/roommates.

Yes, this soul was none other than Josh.

Guilt.

It was the only thing he felt. He knew that he needed to move on yet he couldn't see past his actions knowing full well he was responsible for their deaths.

If this continued on for any longer even I fear that his sanity may be at stake here.

As he was reminiscing in his guilt a sudden figure appeared next to him. The sudden appearance of this being however hadn't moved or caused Josh to budge a bit as this was not the first time this being had come here to visit Josh.

It looked towards Josh and sighed. "You know you can't always blame yourself for what happened right?" It spoke with a voice of grandeur as it leaked of a kingly aura.

Josh's soul shook a bit before his heavy voice was heard. "I-" He tried to speak yet felt as though his heart was stuck in his throat.

The being shook his head and said, "Forget about the past, move on and accept the present. Once you do that I'll give you a second chance at life once more."

Hearing his words Josh was startled. "You think I deserve a second chance?" Hearing Josh's words the being couldn't help but release a wry smile.

He nodded however and followed up by saying, "Josh, I can give you the opportunity to live a life filled with power. A life where you are in control and where fear no longer holds you back. However, it depends on whether or not you are ready for such a life."

Hearing the being's words Josh went silent. His soul shook as it indicated his hesitance but in the end he released a heartfelt sigh.

It felt as though all of his guilt, stress, frustration and self depreciation were poured into that single sigh.

He finally decided to let go. The being, seeing this, smiled widely. "I know where you've always wanted to be. Are you ready for your new life?"

Josh smiled wryly (Though it couldn't be seen) before he released a low hum.

He, of course, didn't move on completely as he was still holding himself accountable for his past mistake.

However he had also decided that he must indeed move on. Not only for him but for the innocent lives in which he had cost.

And with that being settled, Josh's soul disappeared completely at the snap of the being's fingers.

He smiled before folding his arms behind his back. "I hope that you gain the strength to overcome your mistake, Young Josh.."
