The vast resources and money collected by that Archmage are all entangled with complex desires.
Especially everything obtained from the Defense Tower... the people from the Defense Tower will undoubtedly be filled with resentment towards Delphus for his actions.
Indeed, Delphus was mistakenly sent to Sia Tower due to family turmoil, but likewise, he wasn't taught how to hide his existence, nor was he expected to excel.
If he resents the people of the Defense Tower and his family, wouldn't just being the Archmage of Sia Tower suffice?
Not everyone knows the true identity of Delphus... even those who do, cannot understand why he would have the terrifying thought that since the Defense Tower wouldn't belong to him, it might as well not exist.
In most people's hearts, Delphus merely took another path… and it wasn't necessarily a bad one.
