Little Qi's dad is either messing around outside, or when he comes home, after hearing just a few sentences from Little Qi's mom, he impatiently says, "My parents know more than you do, just listen to them more, they're doing it for Little Qi's sake."
Then, he continues to act independently, disregarding everything.
All of Little Qi's mom's stress and grievances, and complaints find no outlet with her husband and are instead dumped onto her son, Little Qi.
On one hand, Little Qi knows his mom has a tough time, and on the other hand, he knows his grandparents love him dearly. Seeing the serious rift between his mom and grandparents, along with his dad, he feels torn in between.
"I feel like being at home is like being in prison," Little Qi lowered his head. "Isn't it just like being watched, controlled, and having no freedom in prison?"
Ning Youguang said, "A home without freedom is indeed no different from a prison."
