Mabel Doyle stood there dumbfounded, gazing at the man's resolute face, her heart sinking. She remained motionless, like a statue.
Bryan White saw her standing still and turned to push open the door of the booth—
"Where have you been? So long!?" Inside, Crossley Gibson just happened to step out. She smiled and asked Bryan White, who was taken aback, and his first reaction was to look at Mabel Doyle.
Crossley followed his gaze, just as Mabel Doyle lifted her head. The two women locked eyes, and Mabel's face instantly turned pale, staring at the woman at the door in disbelief.
"Katie..." She couldn't speak, the color drained completely from her lips, her whole body trembling violently, and her lips quivering intensely.
Bryan White's expression darkened. He grabbed her and walked away, while Mabel allowed herself to be led, staring blankly at Crossley Gibson at the booth door, as if she had seen a ghost.
