Norton Abyss didn't make a sound. He wasn't in the mood to joke right now, just let his lips curve faintly.
His gaze swept to Walter Schmidt, who'd been standing off to the side the whole time. The man's face didn't look good, weighed down with heavy thoughts.
"You think this is some period drama? An emperor!?" Emma Benson listened to all this, her mind completely on Norton Abyss, so she didn't notice Walter's expression. She tossed out a teasing remark.
Crossley Gibson shrugged, smiling without saying anything.
Tracy was totally bewildered—shocked and incredulous. She was sharp, and had already vaguely guessed Norton Abyss's identity, thinking to herself, he's not human?
It was just too outrageous to believe, so she kept glancing at Lorraine Hanson. Lorraine patted her shoulder and murmured, "He used to not be human. I'll explain the details to you later."
