Chapter 111 - Operation: C.O.S.M.I.C., Part 17: Silly Vilgax! Trix Are For Kids!

From now on, Frieza's explosions will be written as "booms" or "bursts."

alternate title:

Silly Vilgax! Trix Are For Kids!

"THRILLING DEVELOPMENTS, WAR FANS!" War Promoter Zurk announced. "Bounty hunter Samus Aran and Solana heroine Rivet have confronted the dastardly Rick Sanchez! Can they survive this mad scientist's machinations?! Speaking of machines, Voltron the Legendary Defender of Quintessa is in a fierce duel against the nefarious overlord, Frieza! And amidst all the combat, parasites and giant beasts continue to run wild! Promoter Zurk excitedly waits for THE BLOODSHEEEEEED!"

"I hope that's just the bloodshed on the enemy's side!" Tiffi shouted.

Spread across the Vil Galaxy, the Kids Next Door confronted Haggar's gigantic Robeasts. Peni Parker battled the Spidrex. Lucina battled Batbeast, a muscular bat with spiked nipples. Hiyuki fought the Medusa Anga, slicing its snaky heads with her scythe. On Piscciss, Nora battled the Heavy Deathsail underwater while Erin took on the Kraken. Lulu fought the green, mechanical Aqua-Starbeast. Mack used his magnetic boots to ride the flying Centipede Express, using his metalbending to search for its power cores and his weapons to damage them.

Lily battled the Evilroots, a dark-purple tree with a monstrous face. It tried to gnash Lily with pink, fanged flowers, so Lily bent up her own flowers to mimic the act. Spike fought a sandmole Robeast known simply as Sandy. Kent Taylor matched his lavabending against Extinction Engine's intense radiation. Robi used Seismic Sense to search for the ground-burrowing Kill-Driller; it would send drills up from underground, but Robi's earthbending could stomp them back down to damage it.

Aria Conbolt fought the Terrordactyl, using her airbending and magic to withstand its hurricane wing clap. Karma Shiota tested his powerful legs against the four-armed Invisible Arms, relying on his ears to listen for the swing of its arms. Lucas Orson fought the Hammerhead Beetle; as if he wasn't scared of normal beetles before, at least those ones were small!

Kodachi launched fireworks into the three mouths of the Lion Tamer. Joto fought the Bluhdsucker, which had twin circular mouths, using her Tiny Devil to fly between its teeth and strike at the Robeast's brain. Mazu fought the Goatbeast; it looked like it would be mighty good cookin'! Mika and Katie fought the Snakehead, confusing the beast by drawing quirky designs over it.

After Voltron was properly formed, the great defender drew his Blazing Sword and took the first swing at Frieza. Frieza planted both hands against the blade and channeled a burst that deflected it off course. Frieza rammed Voltron's stomach, blasting him backward, afterwards booming the giant right in the face. Amidst the recoil, Voltron sent Frieza flying with a rocket fist. Before the Mamodo could recover, Hunk triggered the shoulder cannon and landed a direct shot. Frieza withstood the blast and aimed two Death Saucers at the shoulders, but Voltron formed his Wing Shield to mitigate both. Voltron fired a volley of hand lasers, Frieza flying a hard sideways curve to evade them.

The overlord curved under the lasers and lunged at Voltron, but the mech threw up his Blue Lion leg and froze Frieza solid. The Mamodo kept flying with the momentum until he hit the ground, after which Voltron spared no expense in crushing him beneath the Yellow Lion. There was no activity for several seconds, the Paladins nervously waiting… and when they saw the light welling up beneath the Lion, they barely had time to retreat before the boom. Frieza kicked off like a rocket, parrying Voltron as he punched his Red Lion, kicked the Yellow, and dodged the blast of his shoulder cannon. He then dealt a Haki-imbued punch to Voltron's jaw.

"Is this guy invincible or what?!" Hunk asked.

"He may be strong, but we are leaving scars!" Pidge acknowledged.

"Don't get cocky, yet." Frieza smirked. "This isn't even my final form!"

Voltron kicked toward Frieza, performing a roll and bashing Frieza downward with the impact of his wings. Upon flipping upright, Voltron smashed Frieza beneath the Red Lion and pumped him a helping of magma. Frieza kicked the arm away and fired a Combustion Beam at Voltron's gut. The defender drew his twin swords and dealt swift slashes at the Mamodo, Frieza countering with hardened arm and tail swipes. However, the Green Lion suddenly stopped before Frieza in the middle of a swing, shooting a giant seed that bound him in a thick vine wrapping. Voltron twirled his swords and pierced both between the vines.

Voltron burst free of his prison and banished the arms away, though the gashes in his body were noticeable. Frieza flew wildly around the giant and threw Death Saucers from every possible direction. Voltron tried to fly away from the onslaught of booms, but Frieza surprised them by grabbing onto the left wing. He channeled a combustion inside the engine as the mecha spun out of control and crashed into the earth. Frieza flew high and smashed into Voltron's spine with intense force, complete with one more boom. When he flew up, Voltron's head spun to shoot eye lasers, landing a perfect shot. The mecha then leapt to grab and slam Frieza into the earth, followed by a shoulder cannon.

Galvan Prime

Rick and Samus engaged in aerial combat; the hunter punched Rick's jaw, Rick kicked Samus' hip, she shot her cannon point-black in his gut, but Rick held himself up to punch her in the visor. Samus felt the damage in her power suit: Rick's cybernetics weren't anything to scoff at. Rick managed to kick Samus downward, but she regained herself enough to curl up and Screw Jump her way back up. She struck the scientist with a jolt of electrocution, allowing Rivet the edge to blast him with the R.Y.N.O. 8. Built with Space Crystals from Blizar Prime, the weapon tore open eight rifts around Rick that caused meteors to collide into him. "So, ya wanna play that way, eh?!" Rick plunged toward the planet as he shot open his own portal, causing a flock of green bats (Swampires) to flap out.

Samus made quick work of the rodents as she and Rivet made planetfall. The genius opened a portal summoning four Crustolomons, monstrous arachnids with four crab claws. Rivet blasted them with Drillhounds while Samus loaded her cannon with Light Ammo. She fired rounds of Light Beams and dodged Rick's Grid Beams with rapid side-jumps, though one struck her. "GYAAAH!" Rick screamed when a Light Beam got him right in the face. "The power of light is overwhelming! I'm questioning the severity of my actions! Good thing I was saving this toxicity." Rick pulled out a jar of dark-green ooze and drank it up. "Ahhhh. All better."

Samus blasted a volley of homing missiles, but Rick simply shot open small portals to send them back at her. Rivet summoned small, big-jawwed droids from her Glove of Doom, taking Rick by surprised as they munched his arms and legs. Rick violently shook them off, but Rivet shot him with the R.Y.N.O. 8 again. The resulting rift summoned the Cooper Van, squashing Rick beneath it before it splorped back to where it came from. The furious genius shot Rivet's Doom Agents with his Frundle Beam. The droids donned adorable faces and repeated, "I'M MR. FRUNDLES!" as they turned against Rivet. The terrified Lombax backed away from the droids and destroyed them with The Enforcer.

Samus curled into her Morph Ball and nimbly rolled around as Rick tried to shoot her with the Pickle Gun. She dropped bombs around his feet, though they did little to deter him, until she caught him off guard with the Boost Ball and tripped him. Rivet trapped the genius in moss with the Topiary Sprinkler, leaving Samus to return and plant a Power Bomb. The spherical explosion coated Sanchez in ash. "Cough, cough! AUGH!" Samus grabbed the scientist by the neck from behind, choking to the best of her strength. Rick elbowed her in the visor, cracking it just slightly, but Rivet bombarded him with Blackhole Storm to break his escape attempts.

"I wanna know where my dad is!"

"Keh! I dumped him in another dimension! He's definitely been eaten by the X by now… wub-lubba-dub-dub!" Rick flipped forward and slammed Samus into Rivet before retreating a few yards. He fired his House Transporter above them, dropping a two-story, ordinary house atop the girls (people and furniture not included). However, they burst free of it as Rivet zoomed around Rick with her jetboots. She drew her Cold Snap while Samus loaded an Ice Missile: both fired their weapons at the same time and froze Rick into a sculpture.

Stuck with grit teeth, the genius glanced between both as Samus charged her Sonic Boom and Rivet readied her Peacemaker. He then faced the readers and said, "This is gonna hurt."

The unified collision of both weapons shattered the ice and generated a dust storm that blotted the girls' vision. But after it cleared, Rick was still wobbling about in his battered state. "Y'know what, boys, come and speed this up." Rick shot open portals, summoning Metroids. Enraged, Samus' armor turned green and monstrous. "Ah, THERE'S the Metroid DNA." Rick smirked.

Morty fought his way through Mechamorphs and reached the Chamber of the Four. He held Azmuth up to the Galvan statue. Its eyes glowed and gazed down into his. They blinked. "Whoa!" Morty yelped from the sudden rumbling. The entire room began to descend. They sank for almost 20 minutes, going whoever knows deeper into the planet. With a sudden bumping, it stopped. Azmuth led Morty through the chamber's exit, which now linked to a new passage.

A green glow shone at the end. Following it brought them to what felt like a whole other world… the very core of the planet. "Hoooolyyyyy shit!"

Rivers of green lava flowed along the ridges before a volcano. "This, dear Morty… is the Codon Stream. A culmination of DNA from across the universe. The creation of the Omnitrix required samples of every species. You can imagine what an impossible task that is… and yet, we tried. We filled the planet's molten core with this special formula designed to mix and store all kinds of DNA, with the Omnitrix ultimately able to sort them to the user's needs. To harness this type of power required the help of a god. There were only two to choose from: Deoxys the God of DNA and Mew the Ancestor. Of course, it was easier to capture Mew… though it was still very difficult even with our combined intelligence."

"Whoa…"

"And I guarantee we're not the only people to do something like this. But it wasn't enough to create the basis of the chemical. To ensure the Codon would give us apt results… sacrifices had to be made. We gathered as many live samples from as many species as we could and threw them into the stream."

"That's messed up…"

"It was this dark approach that sparked the war for the Omnitrix. Why the project was ultimately shut down and our peoples went our separate ways. I'm sure turning Galvan's core into this instigated our planet's decay as well."

"Yeah, it doesn't look very healthy. Anyway…" Morty picked up his communicator. "Rick, we got to the core of the planet. There's a bunch of green lava here, and it has, like, the DNA of everything!"

"Great, Morty, don't do anything 'til I get—OW! Dammit, Samus just sucked the energy outta my pelvis, Morty! I'm dry down there! Morty, que up some alien porn, I need the energy back!"

"Hmm…" Azmuth stroked his tendrils. "I wonder if the Primus is still alive?"

"The Primus?" Morty asked.

"The monster I designed to guard the Codon."

"Priiiiiiii…" Morty then noticed the reflective, red-pupiled eye peering at him from the lava. Several white tentacles arose.

"Ah! There it is."

Vil Galaxy, Mission Update: Retrieve the Omnitrix!

Myaxx led Star, Kid, and Tetrax to where she parked her ship. "What?!" To their horror, the ship was reduced to shrapnel and smoke. "That bastard! He destroyed it!"

"I guess we're still going on foot after all." Star sighed.

"Well, I see two rifts over there!" Kid pointed. Indeed, there were two rifts right next to each other.

"But which can lead us to Galvan?" Myaxx wondered. "I suppose we'll have to split up."

"Well, I'm sticking with Star!" Kid shouted.

"And they might still need my guidance through this galaxy." Tetrax inferred.

"Hah! So, Myaxx has to go by herself!" Kid laughed.

"Ugh. Well, I'm glad. Just find Galvan as soon as possible." Myaxx jumped through the right portal.

"Is she hard to work with?" Star wondered.

"At times…" Tetrax mumbled. (Play "Ing Hive" from Metroid Prime 2!)

The trio entered the left rift, once more awestruck by the surreal world: they were overlooking a bright, violet moon! "Oh, man…" Kid said. Parts of the cratered landscape divided the lush forests growing on the moon.

"It's Luna Lobo." Tetrax said. "Planet Transyl's moon."

"It looks a little like the Dark Moon the vampires used last Halloween." Star remembered.

"I've heard of that incident. Certain materials were taken from this moon sometime before then."

"WHOA!" Kid pointed. "Do you see the sky?!"

The sky possessed as much wonder as the moon itself: beyond the soft purple clouds, enormous purple webs seemed to connect the planetoids of this system. Close to this moon, there was a broken planet made of mostly purple with some greenery, with some kind of mechanical core clearly visible. "And that would be Transyl. This entire system was favorite experimental ground for the first Nightmare King."

"Talk about freaky… and cool…"

"It's rather beautiful from far away, but be very careful. A dark chi like the Underworld flows throughout this system. The Vilgaxians planted Light Crystals that can restore our stamina."

They were in such a light field beside the rift, but they would have to leave its safety to travel down the hill into the forested region. They drew weapons at the sound of growling: muscular, broad-bodied wolves dashed from tree to tree, intending to confuse and gnash at their prey. "Loboans!" Tetrax countered the first one, while two others bellowed sonic howls that forced the boys to cover their ears. One feasted on Kid, only to have his maw blotted with goo. Star zapped him off with Space Lightning, then Kid turned his E.G.G.Z.O.O.I.E. on the other Loboan, pumping his maw with yolk before it could howl again.

"I guess we can just call these ones werewolves." Star figured.

"No! They're Blitzwolfers!" Kid decided.

"You're a creative one, alright."

After KOing the wolves, they quickly searched for a Light Crystal and narrowly noticed one past some trees. They ran beside it and felt their stamina return. During this period, Kid pulled out his new Gravity Disk. "So, I control it with my mind?" He thought it to go up, so it zipped up with sudden speed, stretching his body very thin. "Wooooohhh!" He thought to come back down, touching the ground as it flattened and spread himself wide.

"Focus on what you want your body to do." Tetrax suggested.

"Well, I wanna get normal first!" The disk flew to a stable position that would reform Kid. "So, like, if I wanna stretch my arm waaaaay back…" He held his right arm back as it stretched to great length. "And PUUUUUUNCH!" The disk zipped far forward as his fist hurdled intensely, splattering against a tree.

"Well, not a bad start." Star said. "But you're no Rubber Man. Just stick to guns for now."

"Haha!" Kid stretched and squished his body, then made the disk spin him around the air. "It's like I have tekenesis!"

"You mean telekinesis?"

"That's enough practice." Tetrax said. "This way."

They reached a cliff overlooking a valley of tall rock spires. The spires had Grav Spots on parts of them, and they would have to navigate a "maze" of these spots as Star shifted them between each one. Their energy dwindled the entire time, to the point Star began to hastily shift them out of frustration and desperation. His aimless shifting luckily managed to find a rift, the three jumping through and landing beside a Light Crystal. They breathed a sigh of relief and rested for a moment. At least they had a lovely farmland to gaze at, the indigo grass splayed beneath a violet, starry sky.

"We're on Transyl now." Tetrax said.

"Does it have a hotel?" Kid asked.

"Um…why?"

"Not important now." Star replied. They left the light and crossed into a pumpkin patch. The pumpkins developed fiery eyes and smirking mouths, growing vine bodies. "I'm very hungry!" the Punkins echoed as they charged toward the prey. Star used the S.P.I.T.R.A.P. to latch the pumpkins, pull them together, and split them open. "Effective!" Another cliff loomed beyond the valley, the trio overlooking the abyss toward the artificial core. There were platforms with orange lamp posts, which they could swing via the G.R.A.P.P.L.U.H..

There was a shantytown beyond the chasm, built atop plateaus and made alight by Luna Lobo in the distant horizon. What looked like a tremendous gear arched over the moon; perhaps designed to hold the islands together. The Transylvanian buildings were gray with red roofs, there was a windmill, and massive, monstrous faces with glowing eyes were carved in the cliffs.

The trio landed on a safe ground and basked in a light field. From there, they crossed a stone bridge. "Are those Frankensteins?!" Kid pointed at the hulking, mechanical humanoids. They seemed to be striking electricity at floating jellyfish-like creatures.

"The Transylians." Tetrax corrected. "And those look like Metroids!"

"Dark Metroids." They had dark-purplish bodies with single orange eyes. Two of the Metroids latched onto Transylians and sapped their energy, but Tetrax fired shards to force them off. Kid blasted eggs at the Metroids, his weapon's roulette landing on Light Eggs to swiftly destroy two of them. Star shot the S.N.O.B.O.M.B.E.R.; the Metroids were as vulnerable to freezing as usual, leaving Tetrax to shatter them.

There was a rift at the end of the bridge, warping them to the town's main square, with a light field available to rest. There was a statue of a squid-like creature wearing a feline-like hat with narrow orange eyes. Kid used the A.B.D.U.C.T.O.Y. to lift the statue's hat off, exposing the floof underneath. Except this time, it was a SPOOK! Its spooky smile EXPLODED right into their faces! It vanished, but dropped a Gold Bolt.

The town streets were rather empty, so they proceeded and turned a left corner. "NEEEEIIIIIIGH!" The whinnies sent chills down their spines. The boys turned slowly… to face a horde of ghoulish, green horses with visible skeletons.

"NIGHT MARES!" Tetrax screamed.

"Ooooohhh! That's clever!" Kid beamed. "I'll leave that like it is!"

"And speaking of leaving," Star grabbed both their hands and BOLTED with the Shinespark Shoes! The Night Mares pursued with almost matching speed. Star not only had to maneuver around giant tombstones, but dodge the Mares that picked up speed and galloped past them. An entire line of Mares steamrolled forth, so the boys used a slanted tombstone as a ramp to get airborne and let them pass.

The Night Mares cleared away as the boys ran toward a rift. "Hey, the Riftdar's going-" Star couldn't finish in time before they zoomed into the Netherverse—and almost immediately ran directly into the E.M.M.I.. "AAAAAH!"

"BEDEBEEP." The E.M.M.I. restrained both Star's arms and pinned him. "BEDE-" But he managed to kick it and stun. In that short frame of time, they searched for where to go next, but it was just a secluded platform except for the E.M.M.I. tunnels. Then they noticed the exit rift way up in the sky. Only a Shinespark could reach that. The friends fled the rift before the E.M.M.I. caught them. Thankfully, the Mares were still gone, so they leeway to build up speed again, race back through the rift, and Shinespark skyward. They rocketed through the rift and crashed into a wall.

They still seemed to be on Transyl, atop a cliff overlooking a valley. "Whoa!" There was a titanic battle taking place: a bright violet ship was battling a gigantic mech. "Wait, is that… Lotor's ship?!" Star exclaimed. (End song.)

Moments earlier

"This world brims with Dark Chi." Haggar spoke. "Perfect to harness my power… and draw out yours."

"I will not give in to your whims!" Lotor shot lasers at the witch, Haggar deflecting them with magic shields. Haggar warped above and behind his Sincline and unleashed a wave of dark magic. Bound in place, Lotor squirmed.

"How long do you plan to uphold this façade, my son? You were born from mine and Zarkon's evil. You, the heir to the Galra, must consume the Quintessence of all worlds! Accept your destiny!"

"You know NOTHING of my destiny!" With a burst of flame, Lotor shook free of her hold and pulled a lever, swiping his ship's tail at the witch. Her full grasp over Sincline broke as Lotor spun to face her. "You are not my mother. My mother… is dead!"

Haggar grit her teeth and hissed. "I will have you back, Lotor…" A tremendous mass of darkness bloomed around her: it became a Robeast almost in her image. "No matter how many worlds I must destroy… you will accept the darkness that has birthed you!" (Play "Anglar Battle 2" from Star Fox Command!)

Boss fight: Haggar

Lotor bombarded Haggar's Robeast with lasers, but prepared to evade as her shoulder cannons charged beams of dark magic. Lotor swerved around the giant as he evaded the beams, the wings of his Sincline shaping into scimitars. With a tight left turn, he sliced Haggar's right shoulder cannon clean off, and he followed with a swift barrel-rolling slice into Haggar's visage. Lotor flew in evasion as the mech attempted to swat him out of the air. The back of his Sincline extracted a pointed tail, lashing at the mech's hands. The mouth of the Robeast mustered a massive ball of darkness. Lotor faced it and charged energy in his own cannons. When the Darkball fired, Lotor pierced it with a super laser, exploding it.

However, darkness suddenly enveloped Lotor, with only Haggar to occupy that space with him. The witch cast spells from her very hands, Lotor dodging his way up to her. Haggar projected shields from her hands to block his flaming sword, landing a spell that sent him tumbling to his knees. However, as she readied the next spell, Lotor sliced upward faster than she could process, searing her with violet flames. Lotor brought up his right leg, the ankle aflame as it met Haggar's hip. Haggar warped away and channeled Dark Lightning. Lotor attempted to redirect it, but the Dark Chi proved a detriment as he suffered electrocution.

Both had returned to their crafts as Sincline was violently sent flying with a swipe of the Robeast's hand. The giant wriggled its fingers, casting streaks of dark lightning. Lotor turned Sincline at numerous angles to dodge them, but was inevitably stunned in electrocution. The witch opened a dark rift along the ground, summoning legions of arms that grew to Sincline's altitude and tried to drag it down. Lotor channeled bending through his craft: Sincline's barrel roll stirred violet flames and burned the hands off. Lotor faced the Robeast and blasted its electrifying fingers with lasers. With a stomp of the gas, Sincline grazed the Robeast's head, its sharp wing scratching a cut from Haggar's left eye to her ear.

Lotor spun Sincline to blast the back of the mech's head—a giant eye opened on the back of it, mesmerizing Lotor with its dark gaze. He became trapped in the dark space again, surrounded by hooded phantoms. Lotor cast waves of fire with his spin strike, burning the phantoms until Haggar showed herself. Lotor dashed and struck at the witch, who repeatedly warped in evasion, leaving a Darkball that would strike Lotor each time. His infuriation was growing… but he knew he couldn't let that get to him. Instead, Lotor relied on his ears: when Haggar warped again, he heard the very spot she reappeared and struck quickly, successfully burning the witch. He thrusted flames from his palm and burned her again, and as her hood fell back, Lotor raised his sword for another blow…

But he hesitated. When her hood fell, Haggar's cold blue skin turned tan. Her long ears were free. She opened her warm, golden eyes. "…" Why did Lotor hesitate? Why couldn't he bring himself to-

Haggar's evil returned, throwing both hands at Lotor as a tremendous wave of darkness overpowered him. "So, you still see me as your mother. Then deep down, you have accepted your destiny. Come, Lotor… be with us."

"NO! You are not… My mother is…" He could barely hold his eyes open against the darkness… but beyond it, the image of the Altean woman and Galran man flickered. "Mother and Father… both of you…"

They were cruel… they were unforgivable… He already killed his father… so, how could he see them that way? He couldn't accept them as his parents. He couldn't fall to their level. They were undeserving of his love.

"…Love…" Only then did he understand. He faced them again, painting them with that word. "Yes… you gave birth to me, Haggar. You and Emperor Zarkon raised me. But you are not my parents. My parents… are the two who fell in love. I was to be born from that love. But you…you took that love away and replaced it with malice. Everything that they had, from their people to their child… you took. But I will take it back. I will take back my empire… our honor… and I will take my mother's love back from you!"

"What?!" Haggar gasped: a white light grew from Lotor's chest. The emperor himself looked down, aghast. A small, white lion pounced from his heart and repelled the witch. "AAAAAG!"

"The White… Lion?!" Lotor returned to Sincline. The Robeast's giant eye seemed blinded. His ship glowed a beautiful violet… and that glow developed the shape of a lion. "I… don't understand. I failed to protect the relic. I am not worthy of your gifts."

"Though your heart is burdened… there is a compassion inside you that true Alteans possess. I have granted you a small gift… and your compassion has awakened it. Let it empower your flames and burn the source of the evil."

Lotor felt the lush chi burning through his ship. With newfound ambition, he faced Haggar and blasted her face with lasers. The Robeast wriggled her fingers and cast lightning, Lotor maneuvering Sincline evasively as he blasted the fingers. One of the bolts struck him, stunning Sincline momentarily. Haggar mustered a massive Darkball and sent it at Lotor slowly. The emperor recovered in time to evade it, but it would home in on him and move faster. Lotor swiped the Sincline's tail, eradicating the Darkball with the Lion's power. Lotor pushed the side levers as Sincline's wings aimed straight forward, the Lion's claws shaped over them. He sped the ship full throttle, piercing the hag's face.

Lotor gracefully flew into the dark space, drawing his sword to strike down the hooded phantoms. Far away, Haggar channeled dark lightning and cast it once more. "This is starting to remind me of my firebending mentor's tales." Lotor held his fingers forward and accepted the lightning. The darkness was intoxicating… but he relied on the Lion's guidance to filter it. It was up to him to channel the rest of the lightning and return it to the witch. "AAAAAAGH!" Haggar bellowed. Lotor raced up and thrusted his fists, burning Haggar with fireballs until her evil was extinguished from this world. Unfortunately, the witch hissed and banished Lotor with a surge of magic.

The Robeast thrusted its arm into a dark rift and pulled a massive blade. Every swing would cast waves of darkness, and those waves expelled streams of magic that damaged Sincline when Lotor tried to steer over them. He straightened Sincline's wings and channeled power through them, facing the ship downward and facing the right wing toward the waves. He spun Sincline with great speed and sliced cleanly through the waves. Closing in on Haggar, the Robeast reeled her sword back and swung: the same with the waves, Lotor spun against it perpendicularly. His rapid spinning came to a sudden halt as the two forces pushed each other to a stalemate. Lotor poured more power into his wing, slowly sawing through. His speed dramatically picked up again as the top half of the giant blade flew off.

Lotor boomeranged back around and used Sincline's tail to wrap the severed blade half. He swung it with great force against the half Haggar still held. Once Lotor was able to parry the hilt away from her, he directed his blade right into the Robeast's forehead. Lotor faced the Purple Lion's claws and fangs toward the beast's face and tore into it.

Upon landing in the dark space, Lotor was repelled by a current of magic. "Now it is YOU who rejects me?" Lotor ignited himself and pushed through the darkness, drawing upon the Lion's chi in his heart. "Come back to me… Mother."

"If you will not accept what you are, then BEGONE!"

"NO! I will have you back! Even if it's only for a sliver of a moment… I want my mother BACK!" The violet flames repelled the waves, engulfing the dark witch.

"NOOOOOOOOOO…" (Play "Cordialement" from Magi.)

The flames burned every ounce of darkness… and there was only light. Honerva's warm, gold irises opened to meet her son for the first time. "Lotor…"

"Mother…"

A time like this would only exist in Lotor's dreams. A time when he and his mother could share a hug. This is what a mother's embrace felt like. This was love.

The two felt another pair of arms embrace them. Zarkon. Lotor's father had never bore such a warm smile. His eyes never looked so kind.

The three released. Zarkon took his wife's hand as they stepped back. "We are so sorry… for all that we've done, Lotor." Honerva spoke. "We gave in to the darkness… and made your life a nightmare. Yours and everyone else…"

"It's alright, Mother. I'm just glad… I could awaken you from it. Though I wish… there was a better way…"

"That witch was too ingrained into my soul. No amount of light or magic would keep her asleep forever. This is how it must be. But… you do not need us."

"We are so proud of the man you've become." Zarkon said. "Go… and bring light back to Galra."

"Thank you… Father."

"Good-bye… my sweet prince…" Honerva's final words echoed as they receded into the light.

The Robeast collapsed into dark ash… and blew away into nothingness. "Whoa…" Kid gaped. "What did he…"

"Looks like Lotor won." Star smiled. The Sincline faced the stars and took flight. "'Guess he's got his priorities straight. We better do the same." There was another rift just to their right. (End song.)

Chimeran Hammer

Fantos and his team had been practicing for the past few days. Their greatest moment was just over the horizon. They had to be perfect. "I think we've almost got it!" Psyphon announced, waving a conductor's baton. "One more time, people! And a one! And a two! And a one, two, three, four!"

Music played as Fantos sung, hovering on a platform. "Theeeeeere he iiiiiiiis! The dominant liiiiiife fooooooorm! Theeeeeere he iiiiiiiis! Highly evoooooolved! The Hearts of a million species were stronger than graaaaanted! Can unite on some beautiful planet… if he liiiiives to beeeeee… the most DOMINANT life form! Of aaaaaall, aaaaall, AAAAAAAALL!"

"Yes! It's perfect!" Psyphon shed a tear, proud of his work. "Now, once His Impudence has the Omnitrix, his victory will feel even more magnificent!"

"And we'll be his favorite two minions for all tiiiiiime!" Fantos squealed.

"Master Psyphon, Master Fantos." A Bioid walked in. "His Imperial Highness has just warped down to Galvan's surface."

"WHAT?! Why didn't he tell us?!" Fantos cried. "We wanna be there, too!"

"We have to catch up, posthaste!" Psyphon ushered. "To the ships! We'll rehearse more on the way!"

Galvan Prime

Rick flew about the air with swift evasion as Samus blasted rapid Wave Beams. Rivet deployed the Bombardier to shoot firecrackers at the genius, slowing him down just enough for Samus to latch him with the Grapple Beam. She pulled herself up to Rick and squeezed him, using her Metroid Fury to sap more of his energy. However, Rick kept a liquid nitrogen capsule hidden under his tongue, spewing it right into Samus' visor as it burst and froze her head solid. Rick smirked at the karma, pushing her off and swallowing a pill of condensed life cells. With some energy restored, Rick froze Samus completely with his freeze ray.

He had sent Meeseeks to deal with Rivet, but she summoned Mr. Fungis to fight them. The Lombax was locking the R.Y.N.O. on him again, but Rick intercepted her shot with the House Transporter: the house was decimated by the Miran Levnis she had splorped, slamming into Rick afterward. The scientist crashed into the dusty earth. "RIVET! SAMUS!"

They spun to their side: Star, Kid, and Tetrax came racing from a distant rift! Rivet was awash in delight. However, the boys suddenly halted, their expressions in terror. "Come on, I know he's dangerous, but I need your help!" Rivet yelled.

"Um…he's not the only one." Star pointed.

"…" Rivet slowly turned around… and shirked beneath Vilgax's imperial frame. "AAH!" The emperor kicked her several yards.

"Sanchez!" Vilgax rasped. "Where is my Omnitrix?!"

"I was waiting for you, big guy." Rick stood and shot open a portal, quickly gesturing Vilgax to crawl in. "Just leave a few of these," Rick opened some more and summoned Metroids, "and we're good."

"NO YOU DON'T!" Kid quickly visualized his arms stretching toward Rick's portal, his disk making that vision a reality. He felt his hands snag the scientist's coat, slingshotting himself in before it sealed.

"KID! NO!" Star screamed. (Play "Dark Maker Ship" from Jak 3! Perfect music for urgency!)

Samus shook free of the ice. She powered her Metroid form down and fired missiles at the parasites. "His ship landed somewhere!" she yelled. "We didn't have time to see before he started fighting us!"

"They've probably gone where the Omnitrix is!" Tetrax exclaimed. "How will we find it?!"

Their answer came in the form of a squadron of small crafts, their riders carrying instruments. "It's this way! The Omnitrix altar is in the planet's giant hole!" Fantos declared. "Hurry! To the hoooooooole!"

"Samus, why don't you follow them?" Rivet suggested. "You're faster. I'll deal with the Metroids!"

"You, too, Star!" Tetrax said. "You'll be faster on your own! I'll keep her safe!"

Star and Samus nodded firmly. "Just let me plant this," Star planted a Warp Space, "now let's roll." Pouring speed into their Shinespark Shoes, they dashed full throttle after the band fleet.

Rick and Vilgax arrived at the foot of the chamber. "What the-?!" Kid's gooey frame smashed around Rick's form.

"You aren't going anywhere, fiends!"

"You and what army?" Rick shot him with the Pickle Gun, transforming Kid into the green vegetable. "Dumbass. Also, where'd the room go?" A giant hole seemed to replace the chamber.

"Hurry, you imbecile!" Vilgax ordered. The emperor dove into the chasm, the scientist flying down after. Kid squirmed in his pickle form for a moment. …But seeing the Gravity Disk next to him, he imagined himself stretching back to full form. The disk floated and stretched his body such that he accomplished his wish in a minute.

Rick and Vilgax made it to the planet's core. "Deoxys' orgasms…" Rick was awestruck by the volcano of green lava.

"AAAAAH!" Morty was being flailed about by the Primus' white tentacles. "RICK! HELP! I'M IN A BAD ANIME!"

"Yeah, yeah, in a minute, Morty." Rick approached the edge of a river and extracted a sample of lava into a capsule. He examined a screen on his capsule. "Astonishing… just this sample alone contains thousands of different DNA."

"The genius of the ancient Galvan is both incredible and horrifying… is it not?" Azmuth asked.

"Yeah, you're looking at a new generation, Frog Eyes. Morty, do you still have the relics?"

"AAAAAH! They're right here!" Morty squeezed his Infi-Cube out of his pocket and threw it. "AAAAH!"

Rick took the cube and withdrew the relics, including the Omnitrix. "Now, let's get to work. Agh!" Rick braced himself against a round of golden eggs.

"END OF THE LINE!" Kid declared with a dramatic entrance!

"For f***'s sake! Morty, get down and deal with this pest!" Rick shot the Primus' tentacles, dropping Morty back on safe land. "We'll work over here!" He scooped the relics up and flew a mile across the valley, Vilgax following him.

Kid began to dash after them, but dodged laser shots from Morty. Kid drew the H.O.M.E.R. and landed a combo of hits on the bulgy-eyed grandson. Morty recovered from the onslaught and released Semunchers. Kid splashed some I.N.K.S.P.O.N.G.E.s over them while still beelining for the villains, but a desperate Morty tackled Kid and slapped his weapon away. "Hey, why do you listen to that guy?" Kid attempted to reason as he gooed free of Morty's grasp. "He sounds like he's mean to you."

"You don't know the half of it!" Morty shot Kid with a Deformifyer, horrifically reshaping parts of Kid's body. "One time, he stuck me inside some gross, dying guy's body! And one time, he let me go into some nightmare hole in a bathroom and wouldn't get me out!"

Kid stirred himself back to normal with his disk and shot an A.B.D.U.C.T.O.Y.. "Then stop listening to him! That's not how people should treat their partners!"

"There are some things you just don't understand! Hey!" The toy "abducted" Morty right by the underpants, uplifting him with a wedgie. "Rick just wants to get back someone he lost! And deep down, he cares about me, even if I'm not his real grandson!" Morty got free by abandoning his pants.

Kid shirked away from the sight and tried to keep running. "And you're fine with him spreading these parasites all over the place?!"

"Who cares, this is just one of a million realities! It's gonna fall apart just like all the others!" Morty withdrew a weapon that fired flying math books, landing a solid hit on Kid: the Mathematizer forced Kid to visualize a million equations that his uneducated mind could never comprehend.

"Nyuh, E=MC-square, anything to the zeroth power is one, two times pi is-!" Two Semunchers came to chew on him during this period.

Rick knelt on the ground and laid the relics before him. "Hmm, I see…" There was a tiny slot on the inside of the Omnitrix. "The gem from the Altean crown needs to go in here. And I can pick it out with the bottom hole of the OmniWrench." He used the wrench to pick the gem out and carefully insert it. "Aha! It's filled with a revitalizing chi!" The Omnitrix shed itself of its ancient rust, its gray exterior smooth and new. "Now, this Chozo Battery needs to go under this central watch. Which we can unscrew with the top of the wrench." He pinched the watch between the wrench's prongs and twisted until it was off. "Judging by the materials, it looks like only this OmniWrench was designed to fit around it."

"Less talking, more working!" Vilgax ordered. "We're running out of time!"

"Let a man appreciate craftsmanship." He inserted the Chozo Battery and closed the watch. "Finally, the Codon goes into these channels. And I can pop the caps open with this tiny hole." There was a smaller hole at the base of the top of the OmniWrench. "Heh, guess this hole was for the Galvans."

Kid escaped the Semunchers and electrified them with the Z.A.P.B.L.E.R.. He quickly imagined himself stretching, splitting, and bending to dodge Morty's gunshots, giving him a helping of eggs. "If you're alright with it, that's your problem!" While Morty was dazed by the eggy onslaught, Kid willed his Gravity Disk to spin himself into a horizontal, disc-like shape. "But I have a universe to save!" He floated down to Morty and sent the underling flying with a momentous, spiraling kick. "Woo! How d'ya like THAT telepenesis?! C'mon, Disky!" With his trusty disk by his side, Kid locked Rick and Vilgax in his sights.

Fantos and Psyphon's band flew down the elevator chasm. "My Vilgax Senses are tingling!" Fantos exclaimed. "Hurry! The foreordained time is almost here!"

Star and Samus stopped at the edge of the shaft, momentarily dumbstruck by its depth. They shared a glance and bravely jumped.

Rick carefully poured Codon into the tiny channels. In mere seconds, the invention glowed with life. For the first time in 15,000 thousands, the Omnitrix saw life. "It's… complete!" Azmuth gasped, a glimmer of pride in his irises. Just then, Kid's giant shoes blazed past him, the boy bothering to spare a glance down from his goal. "You'd better hurry, boy."

Rick beamed as the watch's green light bounced off his eyes. But in a flash, Vilgax swiped it from him. "GAAAAXAXAXAXAX! YYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSS!" Vilgax raised his prize to the sky. "AAAAAAAT LAAAAAAAAAAST!"

"Sheesh, you're like a kid at the game store. You gonna put it on now or make a show in front of your people?"

"I'm not waiting a second LONGER!" Vilgax stretched the watch as wide as he could and began to move it over his right wrist. "Finally! The power of all species in the universe IS AT MY HAAAAAND!"

"It's beginning!" Fantos' crew arrived. "Over there! Hurry!"

"That evil laugh can't be good!" Star shouted. "Are we too late?!"

Kid was horrified. Vilgax was putting the Omnitrix on as he looked. He wasn't going to make it in time! "NOOOOOOOO!" In his final act of desperation, Kid imagined his arms stretching with great speed, and his Gravity Disk made it a reality.

There was a great flash of green light. "HE HAS IT!" Psyphon exclaimed. "Everyone, in position!"

"What?!" Star gasped. He and Samus were speechless. Rick Sanchez was slackjawed… and Vilgax's eyes begun to twitch in utmost anger. (Play "Most Dominant Life Form" from Jimmy Neutron!)

"Theeeeeere he iiiiiiiis!" Fantos orbited his platform around Kid Cosmic. "The dominant liiiiiife fooooooorm!"

Kid stared at his right wrist. …He was wearing the Omnitrix. All he could do was blink. "Theeeeeere he iiiiiiiis! Highly evoooooolved!"

The musicians' platforms shone spotlights on Kid and threw confetti. He couldn't fathom this development… or the celebration. "The Hearts of a million species were stronger than graaaaanted! Can unite on some beautiful planet… if he liiiiives to beeeeee… the most DOMINANT life form! Of aaaaaall, aaaaall…" Fantos landed before Kid and raised an arm at his majesty. "AAAAAAAALL!"

". . . . . . ." Star stared. Samus stared. Rick stared. Morty stared. The Primus monster stared.

"…That's weird." Fantos stroked his chin as he studied Kid's form. "I didn't expect the Omnitrix to make you so tiny, Your Lordship. How do you feel?"

"…uuuuuhhhh…"

"Hnnnnnnrrrrrrr…" A shadow eclipsed him. Kid fearfully turned up at Vilgax's furious form. "GAAAAH!" He grabbed the child by the arm and violently tried to tear the watch off. "Relinquish the Omnitrix at ONCE!" But it seemed to stretch and mold with Kid's goo.

"I'll NEVER give it to YOU!"

Vilgax splattered the boy against the ground, with Rick proceeding to freeze him. "YOU!" Vilgax threw his finger at Azmuth. "Explain how to dislodge the Omnitrix!"

"Sorry, Vilgax… but the Omnitrix has decided on its master." The Galvan smirked. "You see, I specially designed it so that only a Polymorph could bond with it. A Polymorph's malleable, shapeshifting qualities make it an excellent host for the dramatic transformations the Omnitrix grants. Their bodies are capable of channeling the Codon substance, and afterwards returning them to the device once they wish to return to normal."

Vilgax grabbed the puny alien. "Then we're going to fix this, aren't we?! Once I rip that Heart from his body, the Omnitrix will know its TRUE master! AGH!"

Samus rammed the emperor head on, sending him several yards away. Rick drew the Frundle Ray and tried to shoot, but she zipped over, slapped the weapon out of his hand, and kicked Rick off his feet. With a swift load of her cannon, she shot a Fire Beam to melt Kid free, Star running to his side. "GAAAAX!" Vilgax splorped above them, the boys dodging a crushing fate.

"You three should go now." Azmuth suggested.

"No one's going anywhere!" Rick rose to the air. "Or at least not you, Samus."

"What?!"

"I wonder what would happen if I dumped X Parasites into the Codon?" He whipped out his X-Speller and shot seven parasites toward the green lava. They seemed to meld with the substance as they multiplied across it.

"NO!" Samus screamed.

"Well, this is a problem." Azmuth said.

"IDIOT!" Vilgax hissed. "What have you done?!"

"Shit, I wasn't even sure that would work!" Rick laughed. Parts of the lava seemed to stretch out like arms, the parasites crawling on land in the form of various aliens. The Primus also fell victim to them.

"Dammit! You boys get out of here!" Samus shouted. "I have to-"

"There's no need!" Azmuth yelled. "INITIATE SEQUENCE GALVA-DOOM!"

The planet began trembling. "Self-destruct activated. 180 seconds until termination."

"You rigged the planet to EXPLODE?!" Kid screamed.

"Well, I considered that at first." Azmuth replied. "But then I considered the damage that would have on the galaxy. So, I planted a black hole generator instead."

"What kind of madman does this to their own planet?!" Samus yelled.

"It was actually the Chozo's idea."

Star grabbed both Kid and Samus. "Time to go!" And he splorped them all to the Warp Space outside.

"NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" The emperor's cries echoed across the crumbling core.

"Y-Your Imminence, we must go!" Psyphon ushered.

"Did you like the song?" Fantos whimpered.

Tetrax and Rivet perked up seeing the three reappear. "What's happening?!" Tetrax asked regarding the trembling.

"The planet's going down! We gotta split!" Star cried.

"What about the Omnitrix?!" Rivet asked.

"I got it!" Kid held it up.

"YOU'RE WEARING IT?!" Tetrax gawked.

"What part of 'planet is blowing up' DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?!" Samus bellowed. "We can use our ships!" They raced to hers and Rivet's ships parked a short distance away.

"Let's regroup at Monarch Moon!" Star suggested. "It's a safe spot!"

"Haha, wait'll Papa G sees my new watch!" Kid laughed.

Vilgax, Rick, and their underlings warped back to the Chimeran Hammer. They were quick to steer the ship out of orbit, watching as Galvan Prime collapsed and compressed into a black hole. "Sigh…farewell, Galvanic history. I can only hope some of the wildlife found their way through rifts."

"SILENCE!" Vilgax squeezed the Galvan. "You'll be designing new weapons for me for the rest of your days! And you, Sanchez! Figure out where those brats have gone NOW!"

"We don't need to find them, Squidward. We just need the right bait." The genius raised the X-Speller, smirking. "And I'll start by infecting all their friends."

Capital outskirts

Voltron bunched his hands together and bashed Frieza toward the ground. The defender faced his sword downward and thrusted, but the overlord clapped the giant blade and stopped its descent. Frieza struggled for a moment against Voltron's pressure before flying out and returning to his eye level. Frieza fired a Combustion Beam that Voltron shielded, but at the same time it made contact, a charged laser blasted the overlord from his right. "What now?"

"Hey, who is that?" Allura asked.

The shot had come from a dark-pink ship shaped like a brain. "FRIEZA! YOU KILLED MY MOM!" Marty Gilligan's voice brimmed with rage. "I hope you had fun with Voltron because I'm not letting you leave here ALIVE!"

"You shouldn't be here!" Keith yelled. "He's too dangerous!"

"Indeed." Frieza aimed a finger at him. "I don't have time for trash."

"HEY!" another voice called. "SAVE SOME FOR ME!"

A pair of emerald-colored rockets were flying down: Christina Uno raised her new katana with a vicious smirk. "Ginyu! Just in time." Frieza smiled. "Take care of that interloper," he turned back to Voltron, "while I—AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!"

Christina slit the Mamodo starting from the back of his head and down the spine, before she finished her descent toward the ground. Voltron dealt him a solid punch that grounded him several more yards away. "Ginyu…!" He brought himself to his feet, snarling at the approaching firebender. "…No… you're the actual operative, aren't you?!"

"Ain't nobody knows my body but me."

"Noice job, Chris!" Light Fists rained down around Frieza, directing his rage at Jason's falling form. "That one sure looked like it hurt!"

"Jason!" Lance exclaimed. "Did you take care of things in the castle?"

"Me mates got the rest covered!" Jason made planetfall. "We'll help ya with this drongo!"

"Nowhere to run now, Frieza." Marty stated.

Frieza clenched his teeth to the point of cracking. How dare these pests think they could stand the same ground as him? How could things get more infuriating than this? …And just like that, Rick Sanchez called him. "Heeeeey, Frieza? We got an unanticipated issue on our hands."

"And what did the Smartest Man in the ***king Universe manage to ***k up this time?!"

"You know that blonde kid that's been taggin' along Star? Well, the Omnitrix kind of bonded with him. And they got away. Also, Galvan Prime got blown up because I tried to fill it with X Parasites." Temples bulged on Frieza's purple dome. "Not to worry though. All I gotta do is spread more X around and-"

"AAAAAAAGH!" Frieza boomed his communicator with no need to hear the end of that sentence. "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" The operatives shirked back from his fury. "I am so UNBELIEVABLY MAD RIGHT NOW!"

"Yeah, 'cause the screaming didn't communicate that." Chris remarked.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH…" A tidal wave of chi erupted from him. His white body turned completely black with Haki… but it didn't stop there. The black morphed into solid gold. Christina and Jason reeled back in horror. They knew about this type of Haki.

Frieza whipped up at Voltron and lunged into his gut, the Paladins taken off-guard by the extreme force as they were blown several miles backward. Frieza bombarded them with a storm of Combustion Beams, striking every limb of the giant and disorienting the Paladins. After the smoke cleared, Frieza seemed to vanish. "Where did he go?!" Pidge asked in panic.

"BEHIND YOU!" Marty screamed. Frieza latched onto Voltron's back. With a great surge of chi, combustions ruptured all throughout the mech and broke the Lions apart. They lie spread on the ground, their energy depleted. The operatives could only stare in horror.

"Debezizizizi…" The sight of their expressions were delicious. "The only being that's ever defeated me was the Mamodo King, on the day he banished me. His power was sensational! It brought out the best of my Haki! And if I weren't so impatient now, I never would've used it. You kids sure are lucky…"

"Er…okay…" Christina gulped. "This ain't what I was expectin' to deal with."

But Captain Jason shook off his nerves and steeled himself, brightening with Sunny Fury. "Well, no backin' off now! Let's get 'im, Chrissie!"

"Yeah… 'guess we don't have a choice!" The katana quivered in Christina's hand. She shone with green flames as they formed horns over her head.

"NOW, DIE!" Fireworks brightened the sky around Frieza and reduced the earth to dust.
