Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

The next few months went by April wouldn't talk to me. But she was safe, so it was worth it. I just had to remember that I did everything for her, and I can't blame her if she hates me. I don't understand why she would be mad though. I caught up with her after school. "Hey, did I do something to upset you?" I asked. "No, if you did you should know what you did wrong." She walked past me. What did I do? I swear I wasn't stalking but I watched her go in her house and back out. She had took her things home. May walked up beside me. "We are thankful for what you did. April on the other hand she's just frustrated. Give her some time and she'll come back around. I've been meaning to ask how is it like dating Jack? We're told you are getting married the moment of your eighteenth birthday." "I'm not dating--wait April thinks this too?" I asked. . May nodded. "It was the only way to get you guys that meeting. I had to agree to marriage." I hung my head in shame. "You should tell her everything, Mika." Andy said coming behind us. I sighed and walked home. I saw April get an another's car and drive off. "She is going on a date." May smiled. I stopped and walked back. With my nerves shaking I ask, "With who?" "Zella Jaxs." Zella Jaxs? She is the most popular girl at school. The girls always make sure they have her attention. "What does that mean?" I asked looking down. May looked up and gave me a smirk. "That she has you wrapped around her finger already. You two were practically attached at the hip the first day." I couldn't help but laugh at what May said but I knew it was true. It didn't take me long before I realized I had fallen hard for her. I knew I had to confess to her. "See even May sees your guys connection." Andy laughed. "Like she said, I am to marry Jack." I sighed. I walked home wallowed in my sadness. I tried my best to not think about April and Zella. My mind kept going back to them. She's dating another girl. I guess I had more of a chance with her than I thought. There isn't a point to cause myself more misery. I thought I had no chance or I wouldn't have sold myself to marriage. Then again I did agree to it for her. I wanted to go run. Get away from all the thoughts in my head. Just run into the field, and scream until my lungs gave out. Run till I feel like I'm nothing but a pile of dirt. I ran as fast as I could into our backyard. I sat on the grass and just shifted. I missed the woods, running amongst the trees. I missed nature. It made me forget all the problems I was having. The wind blowing through my brownish fur. I ran until I caught April's scent. It smelt of coca butter with a dash of cinnamon vanilla. She was sitting under a willow tree in her back yard. Writing in a book. "You may come out and come over here." She said not looking up. I started to back up. "I'm talking to you Mika, unless you are another wolf." She said turning her pages. I almost ran away from her she wasn't sure it was me. But, my wolf took charge and I started walking out of the forest to her yard. I couldn't talk in this form. "May said you had something to tell me." I nodded. What does she mean? I didn't want to tell her the truth. "You going to transform back?" I shook my head no. "Why not?" She asked turning another page. I didn't answer. If I changed into a human I'd be naked. I wouldn't want her to see, it would be embarrassing. "Look I'm going to write while I wait for you to talk." She closed the cover of the book. I looked down and then I noticed how beautiful her dress looked. I never got a good look at it last time when she wore it. "Is there something wrong?" She asked me. I looked up at her and shook my head no. "Then why aren't you talking? Is this about my new girlfriend?" I flinched at the word 'girlfriend.' Her face paled. "Mika-" Before she could say anything else, I ran back into the forest. She called out my name but I didn't stop. I heard the sound of her following. "Wait, where do you think you are going?" She yelled trying to catch up. I continued running. I heard her yell again but I ignored her. I didn't want her near me. I just needed some air. I stopped suddenly. I didn't want to turn back into my wolf. I was too embarrassed for everyone to see me change. After what felt like hours of being alone, I finally turned back home. I walked into my room and slammed the door shut. I laid down on the bed and cried. I stayed that way until I heard someone walking outside of my window. A knock was heard next. Who? Is it April? I ignored it till I heard a crunch and the locked window opened. April, walked in. "Don't ignore a vampire." "Uh--" "Why didn't you shift back? What is wrong? She asked, wiping a loose tear on my face. "I couldn't or else I'd be naked." I blushed. She chuckled. She climbed onto my bed and hugged me. I pulled myself closer to her. This felt really nice. She smelled like coca butter and cinnamon. I loved the smell. I looked up at her and saw that she looked happy. She grabbed my chin, drawing me into a light kiss. I let myself kiss back. Then Zella and Jack popped into my brain. I pulled away." I can't." "Why? I know you like me. I'm tired of waiting on you to make the first move." She said moving in for another kiss. I pulled back again. "What about Zella?" "What about her? She is the Lead cheerleader, I'm on the cheer squad." "You're not dating her?" I asked. "No, I thought it was obvious that I like you. Hence, the kissing." "Jack. I am set to marry Jack when I turn eighteen." "Then be mine till then." She said going in for another kiss. I fell onto it kissing her hard. We pulled away and talked the night away.
