Chapter 13 - Finale

"There you are."

The man, or I guess anomaly, was in front of me. All banged up.

Micheal didn't look the greatest, especially his hand which was leaking a profuse amount of blood, but that didn't stop him from standing up and holding up his knife, readying it to stab me. I took off my suit jacket, wrapping it around both of my hands.

"Don't worry, that eagerness is getting you a ticket straight to hell."

"..."

Micheal lunged forward and attempted to stab me in my chest, but I ducked under it and wrapped my jacket around his arm. He tried to grab me with his left hand, but I pulled on my jacket and rolled backwards, using my legs to push him up. He was sent hurtling over me, crashing to the ground behind me with a loud thud. His knife was flung away, landing a few feet away. I quickly got up, pulling out my knife and stabbed his neck.

Blood spilled all over me but I didn't stop. I ripped my knife out and went for another neck stab, but he was able to raise his hand up and stop the blade with his hand. I didn't let that stop me as I just started to forcefully move the knife down his palm, making a larger cut appear on his hand

Micheal didn't appreciate that as he used his free arm to punch me in the face, making me stop cutting him. He pulled his hand off my knife and flipped himself over, before trying to punch me again in my chest. I was barely able to raise my arms to block it but the force of the punch still made him slide back a bit

"Fuc-!"

My ribs weren't going to be happy after this.

I looked up to see Micheal ripping my jacket off his hand and throwing it to the side. Pulling out Laurie's knife, I activated CQC and prepared to rush him. I readied the knives in my hand before running towards him, staring at the red dot on his shoulder. He tried to land a punch on me but I easily saw through it and stopped my running last minute, using my momentum to spin around the punch and stab his shoulder.

Micheal tried to turn around and grab me again, but I quickly pulled down on my knife, knocking him onto his knee's again. I ripped out my knife and used both of my knifes to stab his neck on both sides, more blooding spraying out on me. I ripped my knives out again, but my luck ran thin again as Micheal stood up and spund his left arm around, nailing me on my left arm.

I got pushed back a bit, being knocked into a tree. I had to roll under Micheal's straight punch, which hit the tree behind it.

"Jesus..."

I over and saw that the tree and a fist shape dent in it.

I'm pretty sure the regular Micheal couldn't do that.

Micheal tried a overhead hook, but I rolled away again and avoided it. We were a few feet away from each other, but lucky me he was standing right next to his knife. He picked up the knife and lunged at me again.

As Michael lunged with his knife, I sidestepped swiftly, but I realized something that didn't help me at all. The forest floor beneath us was uneven, roots and fallen leaves creating an unpredictable terrain. I accidently stumbled slightl and Michael seized the opportunity. He closed the distance between us in an instant, his knife narrowly missing my side as I twisted away.

In a fluid motion, I redirected the momentum of my dodge into a spinning kick, aiming for at the red dot in his midsection. My heel struck his side, but his zombie like nature absorbed the blow, and he retaliated with a vicious backhand swing.

The force of his strike met my forearm, sending a searing pain shooting up my arm. Gritting my teeth, I used the momentum from the impact to pivot and launch myself backward, regaining some distance. My arm throbbed, a sharp reminder of the brutality of our encounter.

"Damn he's strong."

Michael's gaze remained locked on me, deadset now on killing me. His wounds seemed to have little effect on him, and it wasn't like he was regenerating.

No, he still had all of the wounds on him, it's just that he didn't care or didn't even realized his was hurt.

I assessed our surroundings. I need to use the terrain to my advantage, create openings and seize opportunities that would turn the tide in my favor.

As Michael advanced again, I ducked under his outstretched arm, narrowly avoiding another knife swing. With a quick, fluid motion, I swiped my leg at his ankles, aiming to trip him. His foot caught on an exposed root, and for a moment, his balance wavered.

Seizing the chance, I lunged forward, my knives poised for a dual strike. I aimed for his exposed flank, driving the blades forward with all the strength I could muster. The blades pierced his flesh. Blood welled around the wounds, staining the ground beneath us.

But Michael's response was immediate and brutal. Ignoring the pain, he swung his elbow back, catching me squarely in the chest. The impact sent me sprawling backward, the breath knocked out of my lungs. I collided with a another tree, I blacked out for a moment too.

Gasping for air, I struggled to regain my footing. The pain in my chest was cruely reminding me that this Micheal was normal. Michael stood a few feet away, he was only staring at me with no reaction. He was sizing me up, seeing if I had any tricks.

With a grunt, I pushed myself off the tree, my knives were held defensively infront of me. I had a feeling I need to use my Heckler, but those 3 bullets were precious. I stared back at Micheal as I stood up fully. My condition wasn't good, my rib's and arm's are probably fractured alongside the concussion from earlier and all the internal damage to my organs. Granted, Micheal looked much worse. His neck was cut wide open on all sides, blood was flowing down his sides and he had all those stab wounds to.

I knew that every movement, every choice I made, could be my last.

I adjusted my grip on my knives, sweat mixing with the dirt and blood on my hands. Despite my messed-up state, I had a deep desire to win against him. I couldn't let myself be consumed by fear or pain; I had to find a way to exploit his weaknesses and bring this battle to an end.

Michael's gaze remained unflinching, his body poised to strike once more. I carefully weighed my options. His injuries were substantial, and I had managed to land several solid blows. But his strength and resilience were beyond that of OG Micheal. I needed a plan that capitalized on his predictability and leveraged my own skills.

Summoning my remaining strength, I crouched low and dashed forward. Michael swung his knife down at me, slashing through the air. I evaded his strike with a last-minute twist of my body, using the momentum to roll to the side. His blade missed me by mere inches, a cold sweat dropped down my head again.

As I regained my footing, I took a quick inventory of the terrain. A fallen log was nearby, and I realized that it could be a huge help. With a swift decision, I dashed toward it.

Michael pursued me, his slow looking walk was stupidly fast as he almost caught up to me. But I reached the log just in time, leaping onto it and using it as a platform to launch myself into the air and in mid-air, I twisted my body, my legs coming into contact with his chest. The impact sent him stumbling back, his disrupting his balance.

Seizing the opportunity, I landed on the ground and charged forward. I targeted his injured shoulder, my blades slashing down with a lethal precision. The wounds I inflicted earlier had weakened the area, and my strikes found their mark, digging into his flesh. Blood spurted out.

But Michael's response didn't give a shit. He let out a feral roar, which made me really confused cause I thought he never spoke. He swung his knife in a wide arc, the blade catching me across the side. A sharp pain jolted through me as the blade cut into my flesh. I gritted my teeth against the pain, refusing to let it overwhelm me.

Summoning every ounce of strength I had left, I staggered back, putting distance between us. My breath came in ragged gasps, my vision blurring as I fought to stay conscious. Michael's form loomed before me, his wounds oozing blood, his eyes fixed on me with a chilling intensity.

He looked more like a beast then a human. He had a feral growl now and was breathing heavily. The look he was giving me was creepy.

My gaze flickered to the Heckler in my holster. I had 3 bullets left, and I knew I had to use them wisely. Michael's wounds had taken their toll, but he was far from defeated. I needed a plan that would catch him off guard, exploit him, and give me the opening I needed.

I put my knife away and unholstered the gun, my fingers wrapping around the cold metal. I met Michael's gaze head-on, my stance defiant. The forest seemed to hold its breath, the tension between us reaching its peak.

"This ill-fated relationship is done."

It was like time slowed down. The world around me narrowed down to just the two of us. Is this how John Wick felt in those final battles of his?

Micheal crouched down, prepared to strike once more. I steeled myself for the final confrontation, my fingers tightening around the trigger. Michael let out a feral roar to the sky before he moved even faster then he ever did, he closing the distance between us.

Time seemed to stretch as Michael raised his arm, his knife winding up for a overhead slash. I don't know what happened, but I activated CQC on instinct, the red dot of centered on his chest. I steadied the gun and I steeled my mind. The world around me faded away, leaving only the Micheal before me.

I squeezed the trigger, the gunshot splitting the air. The bullet streaked toward its mark but Michael's reflexes were inhuman, and he twisted his body at the last moment, the bullet grazing his side.

Before I could fire again, Michael was upon me, his knife arcing toward my head. My instinct took over, and I raised Laurie's knife up and stabbed a red dot on Micheal's arm. I felt of a adreneline as I held up my knife with all my might.

With a surge of energy, I kicked Micheal sqaure in his chest. He fell backwards onto the ground, and I used the chance to go in for another strike. I aimed for his injured shoulder, and the blade sunk into his flesh. He let out a pain growl, but before I could react, he countered with a swift and brutal punch to my abdomen, knocking the wind out of me.

I stumbled back, gasping for breath, my vision blurring up again. Michael was now becoming more and more a beast, but I couldn't afford to give in. I had 2 bullet left, and I needed to make it count.

Summoning every ounce of strength I had left, I steadied my aim and pulled the trigger once more. CQC was activated again, and a gunshot rang out. The bullet finding its mark this time on Micheal's forehead. His body jerked back, the impact staggering him. He stumbled backwards, his knife slipping from his hand and clattering to the ground.

Another roar was let out by Micheal as he held his head, he was desperetly trying to stay up on his feet. But he ran at me again, no knife or nothing. Just a fist raised up to strike. His roaring was ignored as I steadied my Heckler.

This was Micheal's end.

A red dot was on Micheal forehead again as he ran towards me. I tightened my grip on my Heckler, 1 eye closed to get a better shot. And I pulled the trigger, and the bullet flying out.

The bullet was a direct hit.

Micheal was knocked to the ground. He was spasming about, trying to cling onto any life he could find. But he had none left. I stared at his body as he slowly stopped moving.

The forest seemed to sigh in relief..

I stood there, chest heaving, bloodied and battered. The fight had taken its toll, leaving me broken and bruised, but I had emerged victorious.

Slowly, I limped over to Michael's lifeless body cautiously. I ripped out Laurie's knife, the weight of the blades comforting in my hands.

As I looked down at Michael, I bent down and ripped off his mask.

Micheal looked like a human, but there were just things that cleary said 'I'm not human!'. The skin around his eyes was cracked, with black lines everywhere around the area to. He had a lack of eye's, thank's to me, and was only left with dryed blood and eyeball part's over his face.

I stabbed Laurie's knife right next to Micheal's head, it was my respect to Laurie and her family. And with a heavy sigh, I turned away from Micheal's body. I limped over to my jacket and put it back on. It actaully wasn't in horrible condition, just ignoring the cut's and it being soaked in blood.

I limped over to the log from earlier and plopped down. It was still nighttime so I was still able to see the star's shine brightly. I closed my eyes, I was really tired after that whole fight.

"But this was one hell of a time huh?"

{Congratulations! You have completed your first hunt!"}
