Katherine stretched forth her hands onto Eddie's head, and in an instant had rid the boy of his pains.
"Are you feeling okay now?" She questioned Eddie who couldn't quite grasp what was going on.
"I think so" He replied amidst laboured breaths.
"What's going on mom?" Jade repeated her question. Her mother might be busy with helping Eddie at the moment, but she was still curious, and she could tell Eddie wanted answers too.
Katherine helped her son onto the nearest seat and urged him to lie down until he was fully recovered. She knew there was no evading this question now. She could probably feign surprise with her kids, but she decided against that. It was high time she told the truth.
"His suppressed vampire side wants to come out" She explained in a sentence that left the figures beside her burning with even more curiosity.
"Vampire side? I don't understand" Eddie was first to air his confusions, and Jade seconded the question.
"Vampire side? What are you talking about mom?"
"I'm saying Eddie's not like the rest of them, he's a combination of two breeds!" Katherine revealed
"Are you saying...? Is that even possible?" Jade questioned. She was way beyond curious now. She knew Eddie wasn't her biological brother, but this was just something she had no idea of, something she couldn't even imagine in her wildest fantasies.
"It's exactly what you think Jade. I didn't want this getting out at first because I know he'll become a target for all the factions, but it's not something that can be hidden forever. It's a good thing this didn't happen while we were still outside" Katherine explained.
"So what's going to happen to him now? Is he going to be okay?" Jade was concerned.
"He'll be just fine, as long as he doesn't transform to his wolf form, or try to fight using his wolf form, he should be fine. The more he neglects his vampire side, the more it fights to come out. For now just stick to magic"
Eddie just laid without words on the couch, he heard all that Katherine said, but he couldn't bring himself to even talk. He was too tired, and too surprised to talk, in fact he had absolutely nothing to say.
"My parents who were they?" He managed to ask. Eddie was sure vampires couldn't procreate, and if that was true what exactly was he? Could it be he was just a cooked up experiment by the witches?
Katherine turned towards her tired looking son, she could tell he was curious, and she knew she couldn't hide the truth any longer than she already have.
"Your mother was a vampire, and your father a wolf," Katherine started with the most basic explanation.
"Vampires can't procreate can they? So how is it even possible? How am I possible?" Eddie asked. He wanted to show his emotions, but he was too tired to even make his voice audible. His words were barely whispers, but the witches beside him heard him loud and clear.
"Your mother was turned against her wish, she used to be a human girl who wanted to have a child of her own. But after she was turned, childbirth became impossible for her," Katherine stopped and took a deep breath before getting to the difficult part. "I performed a ritual for your mother, in order for her to have a child, she must have to give up her own life"
The entire room fell silent after Katherine finished her sentence, each of them were probably looking for the right next word to speak, but Eddie beat the witches to it.
"And my father? Where is he now?"
"When I got to the house I couldn't find him, I assumed he was killed during the moon massacre. I've tried looking for him through tracking spells, but nothing's been working. I'm sorry Eddie, but I think he's dead" Katherine answered.
Jade strode towards Eddie's seat and settled towards her brother.
"It shouldn't bother you too much, we'll always be your family no matter what happens" Jade consoled.
Eddie smiled at Jade's words, Katherine's words didn't really bother him as much as they thought. He really didn't care that much, all through his life he had never asked of his real parents, and he probably never would have asked if not for the recent happenings. He had always considered these two to be his family and nobody else.
"I'm not bothered, I don't think I need any other family outside this one" Eddie assured his worried sister with a smile.
Katherine was down on her knees, and tears were streaming endlessly out of her eyes. She'd been naive to think Eddie would want to leave after learning about his true self. She'd thought he'd abandon them and switch sides, but she been stupid to think all of those. How could she not know her own son after all this years?
She wiped away her tears and turned towards her children with a smile.
"That's enough crying for tonight" She convinced herself verbally. "You two should get some rest, it's almost morning, and you're not skipping school tomorrow" Katherine stated much to the disappointment of the two.
Jade smiled at her mother's attempt to be a strict parent before helping Eddie up from where he lay. It was a wonderful discovery what she'd just learnt. She didn't know if she should be happy for Eddie or afraid for him. Things would definitely get tough for him if others discovered about him.
Jafe rid herself of the negativity that had clouded her head. It didn't matter if they came for Eddie, what mattered was that she'll be here to always protect him.
