Aunt Jade had her back to the staircase, startled. When she saw the glass kettle in Marian Bloom's hand, she quickly stepped forward.
"Miss, you could've just called me; why did you come down yourself?"
Marian Bloom's expression remained unchanged, smiling: "I saw Oliver Bloom's car from upstairs, thought he was back, so I came down to check."
Emily Linn appeared awkward: "We attended the reception together, and my car broke down, so... he asked his driver to take me home, while he got in Elise Don's car."
Aunt Jade filled the kettle with water, handed it over, and corrected her daughter: "You should call her the young mistress."
Emily Linn pursed her lips and said nothing.
Marian Bloom didn't mind either. Before heading upstairs, she instructed: "Brew a pot of Pu'er tea and bring it up."
Aunt Jade: "It's so late, drinking tea will affect your sleep."
Marian Bloom pointed upstairs: "He's got quite a stubborn temper up there. I can't persuade him, let him be."
