Edward Allen dialed Godfery Shaw's number.
On the other end, Godfery Shaw asked coldly, "What's up?"
Edward felt annoyed. Godfery Shaw, this guy, after all, he has already called his mother-in-law. No matter what, he should at least acknowledge him as brother-in-law like Nancy does. This icy tone, as if someone owes him something.
Thinking of this, Edward responded irritably, "I know Nancy had a stress reaction previously at the hospital; she doesn't want us to know, so we have to ask you. How is she doing now? Find a place a little away from her and let us know."
Godfery came out of the kitchen, looked at the sleeping Nancy, and took the phone to the balcony to answer the call.
The suite was large enough that speaking on the balcony couldn't be heard in the living room, so as not to wake Nancy.
Godfery walked to the balcony and began, "She's asleep and can't hear us. Ask whatever you want to ask."
