A heavy rainstorm had filled the official road to Mist Port with water, turning the entire mountain pass into a temporary river. The rushing, turbid waters even carried the bodies of wild animals from the surrounding forests and floating trees, making it almost impossible for aquatic magical beasts to cross.
The driver mumbled about how he should have purchased one of those 'amphibious cars' or even an 'alchemy flying car' that have appeared in recent years, to avoid getting stuck whenever unexpected situations arise. But he was also happy to take a few days off.
The official road to Mist Port wasn't originally like this. It was an earthquake a few years back that diverted the Purxiu River, causing the gorge where the road lay to collapse slightly. That's why on rainy days, it becomes this turbulent and unending stream, blocking many travelers and adventurers.
