Chapter 213 - X2-215: Assault On Tokyo, Part Eight.

11:50 AM, On The Coast, Kōtō Ward, Neo-Tokyo, Japan.

"God, I sure hope you don't…" Daisuke said. Akiira's eyes widened as she looked back at Daisuke.

"Daisuke…" Akiira said. Daisuke smiled,

"Jeez you really got roughed up back there…" Daisuke said. Akiira grit her teeth. Daisuke opened his eyes, getting rid of his phony smile. Akiira ran toward Daisuke.

"We can't have that…" Daisuke said. Akiira's arm from a little bit above the elbow down, sliced off. She then passed out on the ground, next to Daisuke. Daisuke sighed, pulling out his phone, tapping it a few times. He put the phone up to his ear, he walked toward the building Sakino was in.

"Yeah, I need an ambulance on my location…" Daisuke said. Daisuke nodded,

"Yup…" Daisuke said. Daisuke smiled,

"Thank you," Daisuke said, hanging up the phone. Daisuke walked into the building. Daisuke walked over to Sakino, looking down at him.

"Damn… She really beat the shit out of you…" Daisuke said. Daisuke snapped his fingers and Sakino vanished. Daisuke pulled his sleeve up slightly, looking at his watch.

"Just a little longer…" Daisuke said. There could suddenly be a large explosion heard outside in the distance.

9:33 AM, On The Coast, Shinagawa Ward, Neo-Tokyo, Japan.

As the battlefield simmered in the aftermath of their relentless clash, a momentary lull settled over the chaos. Amidst the haze of dust and the echoes of battle, Nico's voice cut through the air once more, her words carrying a taunting edge that sliced through the tension.

"Long time no see, Dai-Kun… Still got that little crush on me…?" Her voice, though playful, held a hint of familiarity, a teasing tone that only fueled the fire in Daichi's eyes.

Daichi, known for his stoic demeanor, gritted his teeth at the sound of her voice, his piercing gaze fixated on Nico. The air crackled with unspoken history, the weight of unresolved emotions hanging between them like a veil.

Nico's words were like a dagger, reopening wounds that had long been buried. Daichi's jaw clenched, a mixture of frustration and an unspoken yearning etched on his face as he narrowed his eyes, refusing to let her jest pierce his composure.

Their past encounters, filled with camaraderie and unspoken sentiments, flashed through Daichi's mind—a time when their bond was more than just the clash of swords and the heat of battle. But duty had torn them apart, leading them to opposing sides of the conflict, each fighting for their own cause, their own beliefs.

The air around them seemed charged, the battlefield's chaos momentarily forgotten as their gaze remained locked, a silent conversation unfolding in the charged silence.

Nico's expression softened imperceptibly, her playful demeanor giving way to a glimpse of vulnerability. She had always known Daichi's steadfast resolve, his unwavering dedication to his cause. Yet, beneath that façade, she sensed a depth of emotion he kept guarded, a depth that mirrored her own unspoken sentiments.

But war had a way of obscuring truths, shrouding emotions in a veil of duty and obligations.

Daichi's voice, though strained, carried a hint of defiance as he responded, "Save your words, Nico… We're not students anymore..."

Her words had stirred emotions he had long tried to suppress—a mixture of admiration, frustration, and an undeniable longing. But the weight of duty and the rift between their allegiances loomed larger than the unspoken emotions that tugged at his heart.

Nico's gaze softened, a flicker of regret passing through her eyes before a mask of determination settled over her features. "So be it, Daichi... But remember, not everything is as black and white as the battlefield."

Their momentary truce shattered as the distant sound of approaching reinforcements echoed through the battlefield. With a final glance laden with unspoken sentiments, Nico and Daichi reluctantly parted ways, each retreating to their respective sides as the chaos of battle surged once more.

The clash of steel resumed, the battlefield becoming a canvas for their conflicting emotions and unspoken desires. Each strike of their swords echoed the turmoil within their hearts, a silent plea for understanding amidst the cacophony of war.

As the skirmish stretched on, their movements became almost poetic, a synchronized display of skill and restraint. They moved in a delicate dance of conflict and suppressed emotions, the unspoken passion fueling their every strike.

Time seemed to stretch as their battle reached its crescendo, the intensity of their clash matching the fervor of the emotions simmering beneath the surface. In a moment of vulnerability, their swords halted mid-air, their gazes locking once again.

"I can't deny, Nico, I had a crush on you at one point…" Daichi confessed, his voice barely audible above the clamor of battle.

Nico met his gaze, her eyes reflecting the tumult of emotions swirling within her. "I didn't think I'd ever get you to admit that," she admitted, her voice carrying the weight of unspoken truths.

Their shared admission hung between them, the acknowledgment of a bond that transcended the battlefield, a connection that had remained unacknowledged yet undeniable for so long. But duty beckoned once more, and with a heavy sigh, they resumed their battle, the unspoken understanding lingering in the air like an unfinished melody, a promise of a future where their hearts could finally speak the words their lips dared not utter.

The clash of steel continued, the battlefield bearing witness to a duel not only of blades but of unspoken desires and unacknowledged emotions. Each strike echoed the turmoil within their hearts, a testament to a love that dared not speak its name amidst the tumult of war.

As the sun dipped beneath the horizon, casting a crimson hue upon the battlefield, the clash of swords gradually ceased. Exhausted but resolute, Nico and Daichi stood apart, the unspoken tension between them still palpable in the fading light.

Their battle had paused, but the war within their hearts raged on—a conflict between duty and longing, a silent yearning that begged to be acknowledged. They parted ways that evening, the unspoken promise of a future where their hearts could finally find solace in each other's embrace, lingering in the air like an unsung melody, waiting to be heard.
