A teenager was so absorbed in his phone that he didn't bother to look up while crossing the street. Unfortunately, this was a terrible decision because an oil tanker was speeding towards him at 70mph.
Ace was an ordinary person in every sense of the word. He had an average income, and education, and lived in an average house. However, he was not satisfied with being average and had always aspired to be a hero. When he noticed the unaware teenager, Ace decided that he wouldn't leave this world as an ordinary man. In a moment of selflessness, he dashed in front of the tanker, pushing the ignorant teenager out of harm's way. He regretted it as soon as he did it. 'Why?' he thought, 'Why did I save him?'. His thoughts were a whirlwind that couldn't be calmed down.
As Ace felt the impact of the oil tanker crashing into him, his body flung through the air like a ragdoll. Pain surged through every fibre of his being, but amid the chaos, Ace glimpsed the teenager's wide-eyed expression of shock and gratitude. In that fleeting moment, Ace realized his selflessness held a purpose greater than he could have ever imagined.
The sheer force of the collision left Ace with numerous broken bones and internal injuries. As paramedics rushed to the scene, Ace's consciousness faded in and out. Through the haze of pain, he heard the faint sirens growing louder, signalling their arrival.
Ace was whisked away to the hospital, his injuries deemed critical. His family and friends gathered anxiously in the waiting room, fearing the worst. For hours, Ace teetered on the brink of life and death, clinging to hope and fighting the pain as his body repaired itself
In the hospital, Ace was fading fast. He was on the verge of death. His vision flickered between a dark void and his hospital room's bright, white ceiling. He heard the faint beeping of a hospital monitor. Then nothing.
All he saw was a black expanse of space. All he heard was the thoughts running through his mind. 'Am I dead?' he thought 'Is this what they call purgatory?If so, where is God?' He tried to look at himself, but he only found a purplish-blue orb pulsating with energy.
A flash of light caught his attention, pulling him out of his reverie. Motes of light coalesced in the void, making the figure of an old man. He had blue eyes and white hair, with a long beard. 'Welcome, Chosen One. I have been expecting you.' he stated.
'Chosen One?' Ace asked 'What do you mean?'
In a deep booming voice, the entity replied 'You saved the person who will stop World War III.'
Ace was confused, and asked, 'The child saves the world?'
'Yes. Every 500,000 years a soul gets chosen to enjoy an adventure, and you have been chosen' the deity replied. 'I am God and as a reward, I will send you to another world with some advantages.'
This all utterly bewildered him, and Ace was puzzled but amazed that he was meeting a God. A real god. 'What advantages?' he asked. 'And will you be sending me to a fantasy world?' Ace was an avid reader of everything Webnovel and knew exactly what would happen next.
'You have a surprising amount of knowledge, young one. I will be sending you to an RPG game-like world,' he answered.
'Well, I read many novels in my past life with this setting, so I am using my knowledge to its maximum,' Ace stated.
'Good, I will let you select 3 advantages and what you look like,' the deity said in an authoritative tone.
'Hmmm... Let me think for a minute. For my first advantage, I would like as much luck as possible. As for my second, I want to receive 1% of the attributes/power of any enemy I kill. For the 3rd and final one, I would like to have an increased rate of growth. I want to have red hair, white eyes, be 6"2' and an athletic and lean build,' Ace answered after giving it deep thought.
'Ambitious but doable, child. I shall grant you these,' God said with one final flourish. 'Oh, and one more thing, to view your status simply say "Status." I will be watching, so don't live out your life with regrets and enjoy living,'
Ace's consciousness was flash-banged and he was whisked through space and sent to the new world.
Ace groaned as he got up and surveyed his surroundings. His mind was groggy, but he remembered his meeting with God. He thought 'Was that just a dream, or am I really in anotherworld?' An expanse of lush greenery was all he could perceive around him. It seemed like he was in a forest 'so it wasn't adream,' he said to himself. Towering trees stood tall and prideful around him, leaves rustling in the slight wind. 'Status' Ace said
