This isn't a bard's story. Even if those people are at odds with Hopkins and have terrible character, they wouldn't be foolish enough to disgrace themselves just after he transformed into a legendary figure. Setting aside the clueless onlookers, anyone with eyes could see that this was a premeditated plan when Hopkins flipped the table. In a hopeless situation, the best and only choice for them was to tuck their tails between their legs and act smart.
As for Hopkins, he wouldn't be so ungentlemanly as to crush the opposition the moment he gained an advantage. With strength, morality, and the situation all in his favor, only those who lack life experience and intelligence would resort to violence to revel in victory and vent their emotions.
Instead of indulging in short-term satisfaction, it's better to steadily accomplish the goal without leaving any loose ends.
Having endured since taking over as head of the Holy Spear Knight Academy, Hopkins understands this much at least.
