The Living Sea. That was what the rising waters had been dubbed since their appearance.
At first it was thought to be a leviathan from the Neridian Sea's depths–a great monstrosity with an ability to control water. The leviathans had been riled up before the great war started and it was their rampage that had made the citizens of Nereid flee to the central continent in the first place.
No one had actually seen the beast until now. The Living Sea brought with it a tremendous amount of ocean horrors. Corrupted monstrous beings from the deep waters of the western ocean. It was not completely out of the question for a leviathan to be behind it all.
The Living Sea itself was huge, enough to cover the entire western side of the Central Continent with the rising tide. So while something controlling the vast mass of water could be sensed from somewhere in its center, the abominations were too many for anyone to get past to check.
But the theory was soon dismissed.
