Ruby Mercer finally felt at ease. Luckily she intervened quickly; she didn't want Astrid to be sent away, leaving her alone. In a little over three months, the child would be born.
After the child was born, what kind of fate would await her, Ruby Mercer could not say. But she guessed it wouldn't be very pleasant.
Ruby Mercer slowly went downstairs. At the dining table, as always, were those same familiar faces.
So annoying!!!
"Every time you eat, you have to be invited. Such a big attitude you have!"
Beverly Moore snorted coldly, rolling her eyes at Ruby Mercer.
Ruby Mercer didn't mind and smiled, "Sorry, my child keeps kicking me. I'm not feeling well, so I just fell asleep."
Old Mr. Moore cherished Ruby Mercer's belly the most, so the baby inside was Ruby Mercer's protective talisman.
No matter what they say, mentioning her belly always gets her off the hook!
Sure enough! Old Mr. Moore's aged voice rang out, "Alright, alright! Hurry up and eat!"
