[1st POV]
Pain.
Is that something you can eat?
It's got nothing on me.
Pain was just a construct made by the weak for their petty excuse. The no-names, the extras.
But I was not like them. I was strong.
Indeed, I was strongest.
"Sniff."
"Are you crying?" my mother asked while looking at me. Obviously, I didn't look back.
"What makes you think that?" I asked, trying my best to swallow the hiccups.
"Your tears?"
"Tears stream down my face, but I do not cry," I said. "This is merely the result of dry eyes from not blinking."
"You're definitely crying."
"Am not."
"Are too."
"Am not!!"
"Are too!! You're crying because you forced your mother to beat you!!" She had a tick mark on her face.
"I said I'm not crying!!" I turned to her. "What are you, the cry specialist!!"
"Then why do you have tears!!"
"BECAUSE!!!!" I turned back to the road. "I'm watching the road."
"Unblinking?" she asked once more, much to my annoyance.
"What do you expect?! A woman's driving."
BONK!
A fist came down on my head. It left a heat of pain on my head, which I quickly covered up with my hands.
"FUCK!!!"
BONK!
Another one.
"GRRRRRR!!!!" This time, I cursed with teeth clenched.
There were three giant bumps on my head where my mum hit. It hurts like hell too, and I could feel my pulse in them. Was that normal?
No more words were exchanged afterwards. I just stayed in my seat, clutching my head while tears continued to stream down my face even though I did not cry. My mother stared at the road ahead, seemingly thinking about something.
But the silence did not mean that the battle was over. From an outside perspective, it might look like an awkward silence after a mother-son scolding, but they would be wrong.
In truth, this was a high-intensity battle where both of us wanted to apologise, but neither wanted to be the one to go first.
On my part, I had to apologise for lashing out violently against another kid and using my quirk while doing so. Again.
On her part, she had to apologise for hitting me and scolding me in front of everyone while not even hearing my side of the story.
First and foremost, I wanted to apologise, but I didn't want to go first. That kid had what was coming to him. Fucking extra really got on my nerves.
Rage baiting. That thing he did to me was the oldest trick of rage baiting. But here's the thing: if you were going to rage bait, don't cry for help when you get the rage.
That was like a fisherman complaining that he caught a fish too big.
On my mother's side, she was the origin of my stubbornness. She was not in the wrong in this situation. But just like me, she got angry easily and acted in a way she should not. But apologising first meant all of her scolding and dignity flushed down the drain and thrown into the sewers of bullshit.
So the silence continued to stretch as two stubborn mother and son wanted to apologise but did not want to be the first to do so.
In the meantime, let me introduce myself.
My name's Katsuki 'Kacchan' Bakugo.
I was 4 years old, nearly 5. A few months ago, I awakened my quirk. But on the very same day, something more eventful than awakening my quirk happened.
I killed a man.
No, it would be more correct to say that I ate his soul.
Literally.
A reincarnator. I think that was what he was called. He died, met some random omnipotent god, and was supposed to steal my body and live as the new me after I awakened my quirk.
Hah!! He was so excited. It was a dream come true for him. He was already dreaming of going to UA High and making a harem there while becoming the strongest.
What a fucking loser he was. He lost a soul battle to a literal child when it came down to it. But then again, perhaps he should not be blamed. I was the one who should be blamed.
I am just so awesome.
I confess to the crime of being the best.
Instead of him devouring my soul and taking everything that I am, I devoured him instead. His memories played like a movie to me. A grown man who wasted his life away playing games and watching anime. He wanted a second chance.
I said fuck no to that. I didn't even want to see his life flash, to be honest.
The only thing I took from him was his curse word dictionary and the important knowledge of a certain anime he watched during his life.
My Hero Academia.
What a fucking stupid name. And Deku was the main character of all things.
But I didn't mind that. Because I know that I still stole the show from him even though he was the main character.
I am so fucking awesome. A lot of people hated me at first, but they changed their tune real quick when they saw how awesome I was near the end of the show.
I couldn't be bothered to care that I was even a fictional character. I didn't mind since it allowed people to know how fucking incredible I was.
And besides, it was beneath me to be bothered. You think I am fictional? Ask what happened to the last person I met who claimed he was real. You couldn't. I ate him.
The only thing I care about now is being even better, stronger and more awesome than what I was supposed to be. With this knowledge I gained from that loser, I could even go further than I did without this knowledge.
I was strongest then. Now I am going to be stronger than the strongest!!! Because of course, only I can surpass myself.
I will become the Symbol of Power!!!!
...
"Please stop smiling," my mother said. "You have a smile that bothers even your own mother."
I felt a tick mark on my head.
But still, I didn't talk.
"You win, okay, I am sorry for what I did," she said. "As the adult, I should be the grown-up and deal with the situation accordingly."
"I won't accept that." I slammed my hand on the dashboard. "Apologise properly if you do!! Don't say....poop about being a bigger person. Say sorry, man to man."
I nearly cursed there. And neither of us were men, but that was neither here nor there.
"Man to man, you deserve a beating," she snarked.
"HOW!!? Blow my mind!" I said.
"That was the fifth time you picked a fight in a clinic," she said, flatly, factually.
I showed five fingers. "That's ONE hand. ONE."
"It's FIVE fingers."
"And I never pick a fight. Fights pick me," I said. If only she knew how hard I always tried to be calm.
Quirk effect personality. At least from what I knew from the loser's memories of the show. The reason why I was so short-tempered was because of my quirk.
Perhaps it was one of my few flaws. But with my knowledge, I was trying to fix that. It was why I attended anger management therapy in the first place.
I want to be better.
I want to grow.
...
"That's five fights in three visits," she said once more.
.....Okay, so I had a lot of progress to make. So what!!
I'm Katsuki fucking Bakugo. I'll get there.
Watch me!!
"....Soy sauce."
"????" My mother raised an eyebrow. "...what?"
"Shhhh..." I tried. "Shhhhh...."
"....."
".SSSS...Starry..."
I continued to try.
"It's that hard, huh?" my mother deadpanned.
"SORRY!!!!" I exploded out in anger.
I turned to my mother, biting my teeth. If my gums were teeth, I would've broken my teeth with how hard I was gritting.
But unexpectedly, my mother looked taken aback.
Then her face, which was usually pinched in a perpetual bitch face, became gentle. She smiled, looking too sweet to be my mother.
"Sweetie, I'm sorry too."
It was my time to be surprised.
We both shared a moment. A long one. Maybe too long because we heard a loud honking sound, and when we turned back to the road, we were nearing the other lane!!
"AHHHHH!!!!" x2
My mother swerved the car, barely avoiding a truck of some sort.
"The day I catch the simp who gave women permission to drive!"
BONK!!
"FUCK!!!"
Another one.
BONK!!
"GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!"
"BEEP!! BEEP!! BEEEP!!!"
"Don't go censoring your own curse!!"
