Dillan gave me some self defense moves for me to practice while Jason just watched us from the side, after a while, he decided my training was enough and they decided to exchange moves. I was amazed at their moves when they started fighting, it was I was watching a live action movie. Jason moved with such powerful moves while Dillan moved like a dancer, gracefully. I could tell that they fought with completely different fighting styles.
They stopped after a while but neither of them seemed to be out of breath, 'Good moves, I have much to learn it seems.' Jason said. 'Likewise.' Dillan replied before they both walked to me and Jason sat close to me taking my hands in his.
I smiled at that, he always seemed to look for reasons or excuses to hold me in one way or another. As far as we are together, he is never far from me. 'How are you feeling?' Dillan asked me. 'Fine I guess.' I replied wondering why he asked.
'I know you must be feeling restless, you have to get in the water soon. we need a bay or gulf with little connection to the ocean, I will try to cut the ocean off with a spell so you can not be tracked. Mermaids are not meant to stay from the water for long.'
'I don't really feel that different, are you sure.' I said. 'I know you are powerful but observe yourself properly and you will see what I mean.' I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes to closely observe my emotions, that was when I realized that there was a little feeling at the back of my mind, I would not have taken note of it if it had not been pointed out but there was a feeling like I was missing something vital.
'It's there, I would have not taken note if you had not pointed it out.' 'For merfolk's our power is largely rooted in our bloodline. Some merfolk's with poor bloodlines can not even leave the water, they don't have the power in their blood to change. Some can change but can not leave the beach and vice versa. They cant even cast the simplest of spells or perform any magic, only people from powerful bloodlines can do that.'
'I remember when I went on a trip camping with my parents I fell very sick, I guess that's why.'
'Yes, you come from two strong bloodlines, that may be why you do not even feel the strain of changing or being away from the water, its more than a day already but you are not displaying any signs that you are feeling the effect. For me I have to swim at least a day and I can go into town but not too far from the beach or I fall sick.'
I absorbed everything he just said and rested my head on Jason's shoulders. 'I know a place that may just serve the purpose you want, we have a large territory. I will take you there before we go home.' Jason said. We nodded in consent and started gathering our things before Jason drove out.
It took a while to get to where he was talking about and I dozed off but he shook me awake when we got there. We walked towards the gulf and Dillan nodded in satisfaction, 'This will do.' He started murmuring in a low voice and raised his hand to where the water connected to the ocean. This will be the first time he was performing a spell in front of me. From what I could gather from the information he has given me, priests where like magicians, I was expecting Merlin kind of action to take place, I studied him in anticipation.
After a few seconds he stooped talking and I felt like there was a spark in the air like static electricity, I could feel the hairs on my arm standing. Then there was like a shimmering light where the gulf connected to the ocean and an invisible wall was created. It was not really invisible since I could see it but it was like see through and water was still flowing through it. 'That is awesome, how did you do that?' I asked him. 'What? Did he do anything, I felt like something should have happened but I cant see anything.' Jason said.
'I was worried you will not be able to see anything, if you had not been able to see the wall that would mean you did not inherit your fathers powers. I guess you are stronger than any of us ever guessed. I created a wall to shield this place, it is just a temporary action and will fade in a day but it will serve the purpose. When your father sends another guard to join me then we will start swimming in the ocean because I have to train you on the dangers that exist there.'
'Okay, lets swim.' the both of them turned around to give me privacy to take off my clothes and get in the water before joining me. We swam for a while before going home, Jason dropped Dillan off before taking me home, when we got home my parents where still not back. 'Do you want to come in?' I asked him, he looked at me for a while and said, 'I really want to, but will your parents be angry when they come home?'
'I don't know, this kind of situation has not happened before.' he placed his hand at the side of my head and I leaned into his touch rubbing my face against his palm, it was not just him that liked being close to me, I liked being close to him also. Every part of me wants to be with him, when I am away from him it seems like a piece of me is missing. He took in a deep breath and placed his forehead on mine and we just stayed like that with our eyes closed.
