She giggled softly, watching him stride toward the intercom in her room. He pressed the button and spoke calmly, almost fondly."A glass of strawberry smoothie with chocolate toppings just the way Al loves it."
Click.
Moments later, the door creaked open.
A maid walked in, balancing a tray carefully. On it sat the smoothie, chilled and perfectly garnished, alongside a slice of cheesecake and a small bowl of grapes.
"Good day, sir. Good day, ma'am," she greeted respectfully, lowering her head slightly."Come on, hand it over," Leo said impatiently. She carefully passed the smoothie to Alice. "You may leave," Leo dismissed curtly.
The maid bowed once more before quietly exiting the room."Leo!"
"What?" He sighed. "I already know what you're about to say."
"You didn't like the way I dismissed her. I know," he continued. "But I'm the boss, Al. Authority must be established." Alice rolled her eyes. "Okay, whatever. You figured it out already." "I didn't," he shot back. "It's just your habit and the one I hate the most." She smirked. "Fine, Mr. Boss. Can I have my smoothie in peace now? "Of course you can. No one's stopping you."
"Oh, really?" She pointed at him. "Then get out." Leo burst into an uncontrollable laughter. "Hey, no need to sack me. I was already leaving, okay?"
"You should always keep that smile," she said softly, just before he reached the door."I'll try," he replied, his face suddenly unreadable, before twisting the doorknob and stepping out.
"Is she ready?"
"Yes, Boss. We'll be there in twenty minutes."
"Good." He ended the call and tossed the phone into an open drawer in his closet.
"Code, help me with the suit. "Right away, Boss." Leo examined his reflection. "So… how do I look?"
Before Code could answer, Leo smirked. "Don't bother. I already know I'm handsome."
Code froze, mouth hanging open."Pass me the watch. "Which one, sir?"Leo didn't even turn. "No need to ask. Diamonds, right?"
"Then why ask, Code?"
"I'm sorry, sir," Code muttered. Leo shook his head. "Make sure you're there when Alicia arrives." With a dismissive wave, he sent Code away. "Wow," Jeffery said from the doorway. "Someone's looking hot and dangerous. What's the occasion?"
"Learn how to knock," Leo snapped. "What if I was butt naked? "Oh please," Jeff scoffed. "We bathed together as teenagers. I've got the same thing hanging between my legs mine's even bigger, so—"
Leo shot him a deadly glare.
"Okay, okay!" Jeff raised his hands. "Just kidding. Chill, bro." Leo exhaled sharply.
"I already told you," he began."A family dinner," Jeff cut in. "Exactly."
Jeff eyed him from head to toe. "Still don't get why you're dressed like this though. I don't even know how to describe it. "That's because," Leo replied coldly, adjusting his cufflinks, "I'm married."
