For a moment he completely froze.
He had already convinced himself she was going to say no.
Or worse…..leave him on read.
The driver glance through the rear view mirror after hearing the sudden silence.
"Sir?"
Dave blinked once.
Then twice.
A slow smile spread across hos face before he quickly tried to hide it.
"She said yes", he murmured almost to himself.
The driver remembered hearing his boss asking the young lady who was in the car some few minutes ago.
"That's good news boss."
Dave nodded while staring at the message again like it might disappear.
It was such a simple reply.
But for him it felt like something huge.
Most girls around him were always carefully selected by his parents.
Elegant daughters from rich families.
Perfect smiles.
Perfect manners.
Perfect conversations.
And painfully exhausting.
Every blind date felt like a business meeting disguise as a dinner.
But Lina talk to him normally.
She argued with him and looked completely unimpressed by his money.
The driver smiled knowingly. "You seem happy boss."
Dave cleared his throat trying to recover his composure. "I'm calm."
"You smiled at your phone for thirty seconds."
"I did not."
"You almost bowed to your phone."
Dave looked horrified. "I absolutely did not."
The driver chuckled softly while stopping at the red light.
Dave looked back at his phone and reread her text probably for the tenth time.
Then panic suddenly hit him.
"How should I reply?"
The driver blink in confusion. "Reply?"
"Yes." Dave said sitting up straighter. "What if I sound too excited? Or too cold? What if changes her mind?."
The driver was surprise at the way his boos was acting.
"Sir, it's just one message."
"This is my first real date."
The driver almost swerved before quickly correcting himself.
"….First?"
Dave looked away awkwardly. "The blind dates don't count."
Now the driver was trying not to laugh.
Dave ignored him and quickly started typing.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
He stopped.
Too plain.
Delete.
I'm glad you agreed.
Too serious.
Delete.
After a full minute of struggling he finally sent~
Get some rest. I'll see you tomorrow :)
The message delivered instantly.
Dave stared in horror.
"A smiley face?" he whispered.
The driver finally burst into laughter.
Dave slowly covered his face with one hand leaning back into his seat.
He was completely doomed.
