Chapter 50: Sage Mode
It had been two months since the incident with the intruder manage to reach Uzumaki Clan residence.
Raiken had managed to secure the corpse and bring it under the strict protection of the clan. His 3 most loyal subordinates, Arata, Hiroki and Kenshiro agreed that this was an opportunity that could not be wasted, so a series of controlled experiments began inside the underground chamber hidden beneath the Clan Residence. The room was heavily sealed with layers of protection, not just to prevent spies but to make sure no chakra leaked outside.
The corpse of the White Zetsu lay on a stone platform surrounded by glowing seals. Its pale body looked lifeless, yet there was something unnerving about it, as though it still carried traces of energy. Raiken stood at the center, his expression calm but his mind sharp. This was the moment to test whether the Uzumaki could turn this strange being into strength for their clan.
"Begin the extraction," Raiken ordered.
Several Uzumaki Shinobi moved at once, weaving complex hand signs. Thin chains of golden chakra sprouted from their palms, wrapping around the corpse. Slowly, they pulled out fragments the celss, threads of chakra resembling the flow of wood-style managed being pulled out by them
Arata, standing beside Raiken, frowned. "This energy… it is yang chakra and I don't think it was suitable for our clan."
Raiken nodded. "If it is dangerous for us, there is Uchiha Clan who lack yang chakra.."
A volunteer stepped forward, a young shinobi named Uzumaki Haruto. "Clan leader, I am ready."
Raiken studied him for a long moment before rejecting him.
"No Haruto, the yang chakra might kill you instantly, this dose is too strong for your or even for me," said Raiken.
Hearing this everyone become silent, as an expert they know the consequences.
"Arata, do you think this concentration are good enough or overdose for Uchiha Clan?" asked Raiken.
"I think their Jonin could handle it, they have stronger yin chakra," replied Arata.
Raiken nodded, "You guys did a good job, but try to lower the level of concentration,"
---Important of Sage Mode---
It had been a few months living here and he almost forgot one important thing.
Why didn't he let his people learn Sage Mode in Mount Myoboku? Jiraiya had become very strong because of his imperfect Sage Mode, even though he was clanless and orphan.
There were two tutors who were good at teaching Sage Mode.
The first was the Toads. They could knock you out in case you overconsumed natural chakra and began turning into stone.
The second was Katsuyu. This was considered the best Sage Mode, as Katsuyu could simply absorb the natural chakra from your body, preventing any danger of turning into stone and balance out Natural energy in your body.
Another method was from Ryūchi Cave, but he had heard this was the most terrible way to learn and very dangerous. If you failed, the snakes would simply eat you.
So he called Kenshiro to discuss with him regarding Sage Mode.
"Clan leader, I'm here," greeted Kenshiro while knocking on the door.
"Please enter, Kenshiro," replied Raiken.
Kenshiro opened the door and looked at Raiken, waiting for his further orders.
"Kenshiro, have you learned Sage Mode with the toads?" asked Raiken.
"Sage Mode?" Kenshiro was shocked. "No... not yet."
"I forgot last time when we were in Mount Myoboku, that place is full of natural energy and is suitable for learning Sage Mode. I hope you can contact... no, can you bring me to Mount Myoboku again? Because I want to learn Sage Mode from the toads," said Raiken.
Kenshiro had a look of realization and nodded, agreeing with Raiken.
"Okay, Clan Leader, let's go," said Kenshiro.
Raiken left a shadow clone behind. He planned to negotiate with the toads first.
Then, with Kenshiro, they poofed away to the land of the toads.
---Meeting Toads Again---
"What are you doing here?" asked Gamaryohi, shocked to see his summoner along with another familiar face.
"Gamaryohi, long time no see," greeted Kenshiro.
"Kenshiro," Gamaryohi smiled. "So, what are you doing here?"
"My clan leader wanted to meet you and the other toads," replied Kenshiro.
Gamaryohi shifted his gaze toward Raiken, who stood with a calm expression.
"Kenshiro... the Uzumaki Clan Leader?" said Gamaryohi, then he looked directly at Raiken. "So, what is your purpose in meeting me?"
"Do you know about Sage Mode?" asked Raiken.
Gamaryohi eyes widened in shock, and in that moment he realized why Raiken had come. The little human wanted to learn Sage Mode.
"I know," Gamaryohi replied slowly. "So, your purpose here is to learn Sage Mode?"
"Yes. If possible, I would like to meet your Toad Sage regarding this," answered Raiken.
"The Toad Sage is a bit busy… sleeping," said Gamaryohi with a small grin. "I will try to inform him. Just stay here and I will let you know when he is ready."
---Toad Sage POV---
The Toad Sage was someone who possessed the mysterious ability to travel between universes, though he always believed this power was only a way to peek into the future not travel to other universe.
These universes did not share the same timeline. One was set in the past, another in the far future, and yet another in the near future. Whenever he slept, his ability would activate unconsciously, and because of this he often misunderstood what he was seeing.
In one vision, he saw a world where Naruto had united the shinobi nations after the Fourth Great Ninja War. In another, he witnessed Jiraiya guiding Naruto through the hardships of training and destiny. He also glimpsed countless fragments of ninja history, and among them, he knew with certainty that most of the Uzumaki Clan had been annihilated.
That was why he was so surprised when the Uzumaki Clan suddenly appeared in the Land of Toads. For a moment, he could not tell whether the future had truly changed or if his visions had deceived him.
Just two years ago, they even called for Jiraiya to come to Mount Myoboku, hoping to ensure that the future he had seen, the united shinobi world, will really happen.
But now, doubt lingered in the Toad Sage heart. He no longer knew what would happen, nor what had caused the future to diverge so greatly from the dreams he once believed were unshakable.
