Chapter 108: Retreat
"That attack just tickled me a bit," said third Raikage with a bit a serious expression. But the tone and the way his speak is like a child who are mocking the others.
Raiken didn't answer Raikage provocation, his mind are still thinking either to run away or not but Raikage didn't give him a chance he used his strongest technique again.
Lightning surged more violently around his body, his Lightning Release Chakra Mode roaring as if responding to him. Although he had used a lot of chakra to defend himself against Rasenshuriken, the electric armor did not weaken him. In fact, it appeared denser and more powerful than before.
Raiken stared at him, he looked at where Raikage stood.
The ground where he stand didn't even get damage from Rasenshuriken but around him, a massive crater stretched 15 meters wide, the ground completely pulverized by the impact of the RasenShuriken. Trees had been erased, soil turned to dust, and chakra residue still lingered in the air and the only place that survive that attack is where Raikage had stood.
That was shown how powerful Raikage defend against his attack, the only patch of ground left intact was the space directly beneath his feet.
Raiken swallowed his saliva, cold sweat trickled down his forehead despite the calm expression he maintained. His Sage Mode senses screamed warnings into his mind.
'That was my strongest direct attack.... using sage mode' thought Raiken.
He quickly assessed his condition, first is his chakra reserves. It is dangerously low around 10% left
Ten percent or maybe less and it is not enough to launch another powerful attack but it is more than enough to escape from here.
Raiken clenched his fist, forcing his breathing to stay steady.
'I can't kill him. Not right now,' thought Raiken.
All of this didn't go unnoticed by Raikage, he had seen Raiken expression and hesitation and his mind clicked. That earlier attack must have used a lot of chakra, furthermore Raiken had used multiple shadow clone jutsu.
That means Raiken no longer had enough chakra to continue the fight.
"It looks like your chakra is low," said Raikage and he dashed toward Raiken and used one finger hell stab towards him. This time he moved even faster than before and if not Raiken in sage mode he might been killed right now.
Raiken manage to teleport to another location but it was slightly a far because the surrounding teleportation seal had been destroyed by Rasenshuriken earlier.
Noticing that Raiken had teleport Raikage manage to sense where he had teleport to and launched himself forward to Raiken and this time Raiken manage to dodge by teleporting to another place again.
Frustrated with the result, Raikage shouted in frustration.
"Can you become a man and fight me head on," shouted Raikage.

Raiken just stared at the message and can only curse silently, 'what do you mean by fight? That rasenshuriken is my strongest technique I could muster at the moment and his body are basically tank and I can't even scratch him at all.'

It wasn't him didn't think so but because his chakra reserve are low, he didn't think he would win against Raikage. Furthermore, the Kumo ninja are still here so he didn't want to gamble with his life.
The only reason he stayed here because to stall as long as possible so others Konoha Shinobi who are on run can escape from this place without being catch by Kumo ninja.
Although he had saved many of them but before that, they are many who take initivative to escape by themselves.
"That," Raiken said loudly, straightening his posture and letting his killing intent flare deliberately, "was merely my opening move."
The Raikage raised an eyebrow.
Raiken smirked, pushing his arrogance to the limit.
"You really think I would show my true power so early?" he continued. "Raikage, you're weaker than I expected. I thought the man who destroyed Uzushiogakure would at least be worth my time."
Inside, his mind was racing.
'Believe it. Just believe it,' He had used talk no jutsu and hope it would work.

Raiken activated his Assassin Mind and Will again, suppressing panic and regulating his emotions. His chakra flow stabilized, giving the illusion of complete control.
The Raikage laughed.
"Weak?" the Raikage said. "Boy, you arrogance knows no bound."
Lightning exploded outward as he took a step forward, the pressure alone cracking the earth beneath him. His Hell Stab finger twitched, ready to strike again.
Raiken instincts screamed. 'One more hit like that and I'm dead.'
Yet he didn't back away. Instead, he spread his arms slightly, as if inviting the attack.
"Come," Raiken said mockingly. "Is that all the great Third Raikage has? Or are you afraid to face the next phase of my power?"
Inside, he was already calculating teleportation routes.
'Thirty meters east. Then seventy north, then out.' thought Raiken.
The Raikage narrowed his eyes.
"You speak boldly for someone who are scared," the Raikage said slowly.
Raiken grinned. "Scared? No. This body is merely adjusting."
He leaned forward slightly, voice dropping.
"You should worry instead… about what happens if I decide to stop holding back."
The Raikage killing intent surged.
"So be it."
He vanished.
Lightning tore through as the Raikage lunged, Hell Stab aimed straight at Raiken heart.
And Raiken smiled.
"Too late."
In a red flash, Raiken disappeared.
The Hell Stab pierced empty air, the shockwave ripping apart everything behind it.
Raiken reappeared far away, already mid-teleport again.
Then again.
And again.
Each jump stretched the distance further and faster.
Finally, he landed atop a distant cliff, breathing heavily, Sage Mode fading as his reserves dipped to critical levels.
Raiken collapsed to one knee.
"…Damn it," he muttered, wiping sweat from his brow.
He looked back once, he at least are 10km away from Raikage.
Far in the distance, lightning roared furiously.
The Raikage stood where he had last attacked, staring in silence and can only scream in anger.
While Raiken exhaled slowly.
'I survived.'
He clenched his fist.
"This isn't over," he whispered. "Next time… I'll finish it."
With the last of his chakra, Raiken activated one final teleportation seal and vanished to where he had gathered all the survivor earlier.
